car wont start
hey guys, my 85 daytona wont start. when you turn the key it tries to turn over but makes a mwhh sound and then the interior lights flicker and go out. would this be the starter? i have a new battery in it. the battery is 2 months old. the car is stock except for a walbro fuel pump.

Re: car wont start
Usually that is caused by poor conductivity. I would start with checking your battery connections. Make sure they are clean and corrosion-free. Then follow the cables to the large bullet connectors behind the battery, and do the same, and work your way the full length of the cables.

Yep, you could test the voltage drop to through the cable to the starter too. That's what I would do after what Adam suggest already.

Re: car wont start
If all else fails, I have an 88 Daytona that has a bad splice in main ground wire in the alternator wiring. Being lazy, I just ran a ground from the battery to the block to bypass the splice.

Just a lighting flicker, that's boring, usually they go for full on demonic possession, gauges twitching, relays clicking, radio starts playing theme from The Omen...
