GLHS 16V hybrid project, 10+yr build and counting
I started this project in 2004 when I blew the motor and decided to build a bad azz street/strip car. Bought 90% of the parts, fabricated and mocked most everything up to make sure it would work then tore it down and sent the motor to a local machine shop back then. Ended up going through a divorce, boxed up the parts and moved everything I had including the rolling chassis to a storage unit. Moved a couple more times pushing the GLHS chassis each time but at least the last move was the final one. Bought a foreclosed home a.k.a. Little House in the Dumpster BUT it had a 30’x30’ garage so I would have plenty of room to get the car done. The bad news was I had a lot of work to do before I could touch the car. The engine was at the local machine shop for 7 years and it still wasn’t done so when I went to SDAC 22 I talked to Brian Slowe about taking over the motor and getting it. Brian took care of the block while Steve Menegon did the head, then Brian assembled the long block and did some other things for me. Thank you both for a great job, you exceeded my expectation… Now I’m in the process of getting it back together and hopefully it will be done by spring.
I didn’t plan on doing a post until the car was done but since I’m out of town this week with extra time on my hands I figured I would get it started. Keep in mind I designed and bought most of the parts over 10 years ago. A lot has changed and would have done it much different today.

This started as a Dodge Stratus manifold. I have over 40hrs of my time making this and that doesn't include what the welder did. It looks much better today than it did then and will have pictures posted another day.

70mm Accufab GM throttle body. It took some work to adapt it to work with the OE throttle cable but was worth it.

It has 30k on it and original paint.
Those pics are in the beginning when I first started it and looks a lot worse than what it turned out.
Here is what it looks like today.

This is a before and after of the body wire harness the box contains what was removed from it. I cut, crimped, soldered, heat shrink tubed and then checked every connection with a meter to make sure it was done correctly. I hope I'm right on this when it comes time to start it. On a side note this was a extra harness so I could save the original GLHS wiring if I ever decide to put it back to stock. My goal on this build was to be able to put it back to stock with minimal effort.

This was my first and last time welding aluminum and it shows... I wish i had a spool gun for my gas mig welder it would have come out much better. Early on this build i realized I needed to start doing some of the welding to speed up the process to save money. Bought a gas mig welder and taught myself to weld, you will know the difference between my work and the work I farmed out. My girlfriend bought me a powder coat oven and once I get through the old pictures you'll start seeing these parts powder coated which helped me hide the flaws.

Bought a Devils Own Alcohol injection kit, mounted the pump under the front bumper and tank in front of the radiator support. One of my goals was to be able to remove the motor as easy as possible so I had to get creative on where to mount things so they weren't in the way.

The junky looking intake in front of the head is what I used to make the intake you saw in the previous pictures. I spent over 40hrs of my time modifying, porting and polishing and that doesn’t include what the welder did. I also ported and polished the head back then to save money then Steve Menegon took it a step further. I did what you see in these pictures.

That car looks AWESOME. Its cars like yours that make me wish mine wasn't such a beater. I think the old dodge wedges are coming into their own as a very eye catching style from a by-gone era.

Why can't I see the pics? I see the car but nothing else

I went to pick and pull to get this Stratus head and intake, turns out it was the cheapest and easiest thing on this whole build. Drilled, taped and plugged the head and block. The pic of the block with the 4 bolt billet mains was recent and taken just before I brought it to Brian’s shop to get it finished.

Thank you. My buddy Jeff bought it with a little over 10k on it back in the day then I bought it from him and did my best to take care of it. It's original paint never been hit but does have some fading on the hatch and rear bumper.

Not sure, I opened up a new tab and it's showing everything. It might be the bandwidth.

Some pic's of the motor when I started this mess. I'm replacing this oil pan with a aluminum one from Brian.
