13.99 and quicker, you'll need a current helmet, although I have never seen them check a date on a slower car.
I thought Jersey required a helmet for all racers.

Re: 10/28/17 Turbo-Mopar Invasion Day Cecil County Dragway, Rising Sun, MD
like i said like maybe its 10 years ago now, any helmet was fine for a 14.0 or slower car. back when my car was barely modified the best pass before much changes it went 13.73 @ 100. i had bought a new helmet then but never went that speed again. now the helmet is out of date, car has a fully built motor and 568 w/ quaife. its either going to break, blow up or go slower. probly a combination of all 3 not sure in which order

Most tracks require current helmet rating despite what time you run. They will definitely check overflow, proper clamps, leaks, valve stems, belts, cages if required, firewall, master power cutoff if relocated, neutral safety switch, seat bolted to cage, fire extinguisher, jacket/suit/gloves/shoes if required.
I am going to try to come down and will loan out my suit/helmet/shoes/gloves/neck brace if anyone needs it.

Just went to Cecil this past weekend. Tech consisted of filling out the card and handing it to the guy. He asked me how fast...I said I wasn't sure...that was it. He didn't look at my car or helmet.

Which is why I don't go there anymore

Did the same thing to me last time I was there. That place is really cool to run at! Just wish it wasn't so far.

Should have posted here instead of Stefan's other thread...
Mike, which is the hotel we usually stay at right off the highway, with the Denny's?
Are we going to shoot for meeting there like normal?
I'm thinking of riding up Friday, and spending the night. Might even stay Sat night if the day is long and tiring.
Although plans might change depending on when Mini is ready to be picked up.

Thanks Wayne. There is a Comfort Inn right next door to the Denny's where we traditionally meet for breakfast at 7 on race day.

While I do not care for the nit picking, I really don't care for no tech at all. It's not fun running over some ones leaks at 130mph either...

I'm usually still working on the race car the night before. But if not, I'll try to make it down.

Re: 10/28/17 Turbo-Mopar Invasion Day Cecil County Dragway, Rising Sun, MD
I'm thinking of heading down, GTX or CSX.
CSX will get a new fuel pump, there is a suspicion it is weak causing detonation in high gear.
GTX needs new converter, headers and oil pan.. and should be in 10.50 trim. All parts are on shelf.

I've been really looking forward to this day, one way or another.
Well, I was just enjoying my morning coffee and watching some YouTube. I saw a mention of another "call-out" involving a bunch of youtubers for 10/28. Last one of these they did a whole private track rental of Cecil. So I start looking for more info about this call-out and find that they do have it planned for Cecil. Cecil's schedule still shows test and tune. I'm not sure how this will affect our plans.
Some of the channels are streetspeed717 (stumbled on this when he had a hellcat), Cleetus McFarland, Diablo Formula racing.

I searched YouTube for info on this, but I got about 30 seconds worth of that streetspeed717 guy and got a headache. I've reached out to the track to see if that date is still an open test n tune day.

Exactly, please post up as soon as you hear something. I really am trying to come down, but do not want to make a three day weekend without being able to race!!!

Re: 10/28/17 Turbo-Mopar Invasion Day Cecil County Dragway, Rising Sun, MD
I haven't heard back from the track yet, but its not looking good. Apparently this group actually rented the track and the cars that will be racing are by invitation.
As soon as I get a definitive answer, I will post back.
I wish we had enough interest to rent a track ourselves.
Open test and tune days are slim this fall. A few of us locals are going this Saturday, but even then we'll be sharing with a nostalgia drag event.

Well that sucks. As much as I know all of us have had our problems at Ned, the track rental there is perfect for me 125 bucks and I can make as many passes as I want.
