Turbo will NOT shut off

I just dropped the engine in my 85 Shelby Charger and have been getting it tuned up. Everything is going well except the turbo side of things. As soon as I start to accelerate, the turbo is whining. It runs really really rich(10 miles on 2 gallons) and hesitates when I accelerate too hard. I know the timing is off, but why would the turbo be running at 1100 RPMs?


I cannot find this in the search. It returns no results. This might be my faulty internet connection as well. Please point me the right direction.

because you running so rich the fuel in burning in the turbo giving it the jet engine effect.

Your timing is way off, if you put enough timing in you can get the turbo to spool standing still. Fix that and it should clear up.

Fix your timing, fix it now.

Also, a small turbo will spool at idle. Bigger ones not so much.

I vote that you're 2 teeth advanced on the cam sprocket.

Thanks. Just make sure to have the little hole in the cam gear pointing north when you do it. I didn't specifically mention that and it could cause you to be 180* out if it's pointing south.
