2.2/2.5 knock sensors

I tried to order a new Mopar knock sensor for my Spirit R/T project at the dealership yesterday, and they have been discontinued.

So I called NAPA, and my friend that works there (who bought my last Spirit R/T) says they are special order and might take a while to get in. He says they are still available at Rock Auto though (part # KS1, about $40).

Does anybody have the Mopar part number for the stock knock sensor? Are these actually the same for the TIII as the TI/TII?

At any rate, it sucks because I can't install the intake manifold until I find one. I have a pile of used ones, but most are turning up dead after testing them with a wrench and an OTC 4000E.

Mopar 4671185. I purchased one off Ebay earlier this year for my TIII, been working flawlessly all summer.

Look closely at the eBay add pic and make sure u see NTK on it. That is the Mopar brand and the best unit to get. The Telex brand is not as good so stay away from that one....

Would a 2.4 knock sensor work if the dedicated ground was wired in?

I got one on the way from RA and one from NAPA. I found one on eBay that is a 'true' Mopar sensor, although there is no actual pic. I am unable to log in right now for some reason.

At any rate, I'll post about which brands are what etc when I get them. I need all the functioning knock sensors I can get my hands on with all the projects here. A good knock sensor seems critical to motor longevity with our crappy 91 octane available here. And especially considering I set the rings on this motor on the tight side of spec.

I got one knock sensor in from Rock Auto today. It came in a Standard Motor Products box, but inside was an NTK sensor.

Heh, my good luck streak ended today though. I found a Mopar knock sensor on eBay (4671185) and bought using "Buy It Now" and paid for it immediately. Five days later the seller cancelled my order and refunded me. They didn't even give me a reason, but I guess they found out they aren't easy to come by either.

I got two more new knock sensors from Rock Auto today. They were both in Standard Motor Products boxes with the KS1 part number, just like the first one.

This time, one was Telex and one was NTK, so it appears to be luck of the draw as far as which one you actually get.

I have two more showing up from Rock Auto next Monday.

I bought 5 knock sensors from Rock Auto. 4 turned out to be 'NTK' and 1 was 'Telex'.

I am set as far as knock sensors with all my engine builds now. Uff da.
