3.0 SBEC Turbonator development
Trying to work on this with Shelgame to get at least the SBEC-I V6 code figured out and working w/ Turbonator functions. Spiritman has a socketed computer and so has interest in this, and has a friend who is willing to help. I have a flashable SBEC to use for tuning also. I know Ondonti and Vigo also have some interest in this, as well as some others. Anyone that knows how to read programming language that can lend a hand, it would be greatly appreciated. I've tried to do a bit, but I am totally illiterate when it comes to this and am having a slow go of trying to teach myself lol.
Most of the code similar to the turbo code has been found, just need to figure out the V6 specific parts. The cals can be found here for download:

Figured I'd start a thread on it to help concentrate efforts towards this and help give it some momentum. The SBEC-I cal has enough figured out so far I think to actually be able to do some tuning on the spark and fuel tables using MP Tune, although not far enough along yet to scale for map or injectors.
Re: 3.0 SBEC Turbonator development
i have a interest in this as well for my 94 3.0l 604 GTC vert
Re: 3.0 SBEC Turbonator development
I have interest for my '90....
Re: 3.0 SBEC Turbonator development
Both the v6s need the rev limiter moved like crazy. At least with fuel and ignition there are SOME other options for tuning. But without being able to move the rev limiter, both engines are severely hobbled! Obviously fuel and ignition tuning should be a major goal, but if the rev limiter thing isn't figured out i'd probably go straight to standalone anyway.
Re: 3.0 SBEC Turbonator development
Rev limiter is already id'd. That's easy. I've even scaled one for injectors before, done some fuel and spark tuning.
Re: 3.0 SBEC Turbonator development
I know we are not ready yet to scale 2-3bar yet but so hoping
Rob you think you can tranfer the No2 retard code over?

Cool. Not to distract from the SBEC concerns, but the next step for Rob M and I would be getting the TCM to allow the engine to rev past the stock upshift points.
And this one is just a personal concern for me, but i decided to stick with 90-91 SBEC over 92-95 on my 3.8 because the early ones have a knock sensor. So it would be neat to have the CEL flash on my early 3.8 car.
Re: 3.0 SBEC Turbonator development
Seems like it'd be a simple thing to add a knock sensor input to the newer SBEC?
Re: 3.0 SBEC Turbonator development
Dredging this back up now that I have my car running on a flash module.
Shelgame, I have tried each cal in your Google Drive. They seem to be as follows:
The 093 seems to be corrupted, nothing but crazy solenoid clicking when I switch the key on.
The 357 is an auto with no cruise control.
The 465 is a 5-spd cal, causes high idling issues in an auto car.
The 467 is an auto cal, didn't get to check if it had cruise function.
The 508 is an auto cal with cruise control.
Therefore, the 508 cal is what I would like to run, since I have an A604 auto and cruise control. LMK what I can do to help you and wowzer get this disassembled and MP Tune/Scan friendly.

Re: 3.0 SBEC Turbonator development
For those following this, wowzer has the 5-spd cal working with MPTune, and is working on the auto cal. Still lots of work to do, but much closer than we were!
Re: 3.0 SBEC Turbonator development
Awesome! Get that crap worked out so when I get my'90 Daytona back up and running I can join the party! ;)
Re: 3.0 SBEC Turbonator development
Hurry up so you can help test!
Re: 3.0 SBEC Turbonator development
So wowzer has the auto code working in MP Tune, it's not 100% yet but I can make timing and fuel changes, and it compiles and flashes to the SBEC fine.
Re: 3.0 SBEC Turbonator development
Working on this again. Some of the stuff that's ID'd may be incorrect, tried setting the neutral rev limiter and it wouldn't idle properly and popped and skipped when you toughed the gas to try and keep it running.
Also trying to ID the EMR routine to disable it, if indeed it is determined to be what is causing it to die every 10-15 miles (as was found to be the case in the TIII SBEC's). After we solve that problem we'll see about getting the Spark and Fuel From Map tables to read in 1-bar properly, so tuning can be done. Then properly ID'ing the rest of the tables.
Re: 3.0 SBEC Turbonator development
Is this from a 3.0 SBEC III? If so, that means we can start tuning 3.3/3.8 engines!
Re: 3.0 SBEC Turbonator development
@warlock: what make/model (car) are you talking about? Afaik the sbec3 are post 95' types...
Just curious :)
Re: 3.0 SBEC Turbonator development
I'm throwing a 1998 Dodge Caravan Sport 3.8L into a 1989 Dodge Daytona ES. I want to change the cam and stuff but the stock SBEC freaks out if you do, at least that's what I've been told by the Dodge Intrepid guys. I can either hack together a MegaSquirt system (and have to throw the 41TE into the wind, swapping it for a very rare 5-speed T-850) or just run it completely stock, maybe with a piggy back.
Re: 3.0 SBEC Turbonator development
Syke ecu can do later models
Re: 3.0 SBEC Turbonator development
I can ask him again, but I think last time I asked he told me he wouldn't do it. I'll shoot an email.
