I couldn't run more than 22psi with E85, LM, the stock factory single coil, rbryant's MSD 8mm wires, and .023 gap AR51 plugs without break up at high RPM.
Now, I can run 28psi with E54, MS, a junkyard fresh 420A (neon) wasted spark coil, junkyard fresh spark wires, and .028 gap BR7ES plugs with zero issue.

I know some people do run aftermarket ignition boxes with distributorless setups, often that is because their engine management system requires it. But you'd be surprised at the amount of spark energy the newer ignition systems are capable of, and if you didn't NEED an ignition box, i wouldn't run one.
