How do you remove an SMEC pin from the 60 way connector?
Title says it all...
I'm working on combining my 83 L-body harness with an 89 P-body harness to convert my Scamp to turbo. I have several wires on the SMEC 60 way connector I don't need( cruise, tach, and A/C). I realize it's best to keep these for spares, so I want to remove them without destroying them. I know about taking out the red insert, but how do I release the pin so it slides out the back?
The Boost button WIKI shows how to drill the connector & insert them, but not remove them...
TIA

Yep. Press the little tab back and pull it to the back side of the connector.

I'm assuming that you can get to the tab from the area where you pulled the red plastic piece from?
Guess I need to look at the connector a little closer...
Thanks

Yes. the tab is locked by that red piece.

an x-acto knife or other pointy little tool helps a lot
the block out bar you removed prevents the latch from lifting off the pin/barrel

The red wedge locks come out using a small scribe/hook and then either a tiny screw slotted screw driver or preferably one of these

you can get the generic version from delcity or auveco for about 1/2 the price.
and TAKE YOUR TIME, the plastic latch/'finger' is going to be brittle and they do break right off.
