?? ..Largest diameter tire on stock L body strut and spring..??

not concerned with width but all I need is a definite largest diameter tire with a stock offset wheel
-O-E strut and spring

my only interest in this question is the seat for the spring right above the inboard edge of the tire

tire must clear the spring mount but not necessarily by enough to do more than roll it in and out of the garage & steer while building the car and making clearance for the tires that will be permanent

and I'd like to be doing SOMETHING while I setting aside the cash for coil overs

hoping I can fit a 24.7 inch tire but I'm seriously doubtful when I stick my fingers in back there with the 205 50 15 in place

not worried about hitting the body , in fact I want to find where the tires are going to hit so I can start removing what's in the way

the lowest profile , widest 17 inch tire I can find is a 275 35 17
and it only comes in a Hooser track tire..and as I found last night MAYBE a ridiculously cheap treaded tire from some tire company based in the UK

I had 205/50r16 on my Omni. Those are 24" tires

I ran both 205/55/15 and 225/50/50 on my Omni.

Both are listed as 23.9"

As I remember 195/60/15 at 24.2" were too tall

I wished him a really good day and moved on..

finding a link to a shop in the UK and these tires are from some UK company so , I tried their address in google earth and came up with a brick and mortar auto shop

so I'll try an email..

and yeah I can see anything in a 60 series 15 not fitting
I've "done" 205 60 15's on the back of a charger before ..which look odd on a fwd car - but not necessarily bad

if 24.2 won't fit I'm going to be outta luck fitting things for a while as 295 30 17 simply does not exist in any tire anywhere

I've had 205/60r15 tires on an Omni before for sure. I drove it all the way to MI from here one winter. They will rub the front fascia pretty hard if you turn the wheel to far though.

huh .. I'd have doubted the 205 60's would fit but I'll try the pair I have
computer says 24.7 inches ...though I also don't put a lot of stock in the "tire computer" with wear and manufacturing differences but at least it "ballparks" things

Detobias also mentioned all the tire sizes he tried including 205/60/15's

There might be a height difference between manufactures etc'

I've seen variances of 1/2" between same size tires, they all may be closer now.

Might be a fair trade for anyone running an A-555 L body on the highway. lol

I found 205/55/15 to be the best compromise but the 225/50/15's look nicer.

16, 17 or 18" wheel/tire combo probably look cooler but I'm stuck in Crab Wheel World!!

Some have escaped.

if I were going to stay stock width and diameter I'd have scooped the hankook ventus RS3's I found - 225 45 15
also unobtanium it seems as it looks like the "version 2"s" don't include that size anymore

though for giggles the 195 50 15's I have a pair of might be fun with my 3.69 first gear and 408 fd

most of my 6 1/2's got away when I hadda scrap two cars & didn't have space for the wheels & tires

still have six of the 6 inch shadow ones though which are much harder to find

found a really decent price for 4 16 inchers
