Re: Faulty clutch/TOB issue
check the clutch cable where it rides in the grouve coming over the top of the peddle assembly
possibly it wasn't completely seated in the grouve (?) when attached to the trans at the other end
also, my understanding is that 523/568 cables are slightly longer than 520/555 cables so if one snuck in there .. things won't be right
Re: Faulty clutch/TOB issue
Thanks Johny, I did double check the cable at the pedal but won't hurt to check again. The shift cables were fine with the 555 last year
Re: Faulty clutch/TOB issue
the TM gods have answered my plea..I removed the MTX Clutch arm grommet, checked cable position and operation. Everything looked fine so I reassembled. The clutch works fine now...I now wish I knew what the issue was..
Re: Faulty clutch/TOB issue
ya know... ^That^ sounds familiar...too much so
so I'll stick with cable not fully in groove and prevented from moving off some stick point on the side of the peddle bellcrank that until you removed the retainer at the clutch arm..cable tension .. couldn't seat properly..
yeah sounds really really ..really... familiar
that or maybe the inside end of the cable wasn't seated properly in the adjuster block..?

Thanks for the note
Re: Faulty clutch/TOB issue
I'll go with the cable was not seated in that groove also. Been there, had that happen once or twice.
To add to the notes, there should be a curved metal retainer clip that snaps over the top of the positioner pawl thingy to keep the cable seated down in the groove. It is not necessary for function, I imagine it was more of an assembly line aide to keep the cable seated while things were being built up. Most cars by now it is probably long rusted away, fallen off or tossed aside during a cable replacement.

My CSX has this but not in the Sundance (I purchased new in 87)
