I don't think that one is really that much harder to install vs. the other one. The advantage of the earlier trans is that you can rod shift it.

I read in the knowledge center on how to convert an l body to a 520 but it says a 523 requires some grinding, and will it still use the 1990 omni axels im not afraid of a little modification just want to do it right thank you for getting back to me

You just have to grind the L body bracket a little. The rods are awesome if done right. You just need to do them right.

Just bought that kit for my omni from ebay but still want to put the 523 1n my rampage if i can get it lined out. I very much appreciate any and all help or advice on this as i am kind of a novice I very much love my cars, my rampage is getting a dual sidedraft carb setup have everything for the motor just working on trans upgrade in which i know about diddily. Thanks for any help and your patience.

Being that it's a Rampage, it probably has the a465 in it. Which has the sucky gear spread. An a525 would be a great upgrade(make sure you get the 3.56 FD though), especially if he is staying carbed. That's what I did to my Scamp. Made a night and day difference in acceleration...

My omni is stock but the rampage is anything but stock, has a shelby body kit, lambo door kit,shaved door handles,tilt forward hood (moded hinges from a prelude) 1500 watt stereo with wireless interlink to the net full under body neons and a N.O.S mini cheater kit and im waiting to hear back from dakota digital about a gauge cluster and just bought a set of direct connection smoked headlight covers.I want to upgrade to a much stronger trans as i have plans to rebuild the motor with a hotter cam crank and o/s valves and i am afraid of massive trans failure with the N.O.S
