To get data from it you can just bluetooth everything to a laptop I guess. SD card on a phone is not friendly to get out. Maybe tablets are easy to get to the SD card. This would defeat the need for MS3 that has onboard datalogging though :D Unless your race class freaks out about you having the android tuner in the car. A good phone and advanced software would probably be able to make bracket racing...unfair. I always felt nervous with my laptop in the passenger seat at the track and tried to keep it mostly closed cause they really don't want that stuff sitting there and this will be nice.

You need an amp :)
You just plug in via usb, just like a flash drive. A laptop will do all the heavy lifting. The tablet will be for logging when the laptop is not around and it will also display all the gauge readouts so we dont need $500 in gauges that will clutter the car.
Re: Sundance 6g72 "3.0 turbo build thread"(N/A DYNO SHEET pics inside)
Yeah, gauge installs are honestly kind of irritating and if you just slap em in there without a lot of effort it tends to be kinda irreversible as far as all the holes you just put in everything. :(
All you need for sound is a small 2ch amp. You can run front and rear speakers on the left and right channels if you wanted. Some people dont even care about rear speakers. 2ch is enough because mp3s are only 2ch sound anyway and thats what most people listen to when they feed something to their radio's aux port/usb etc. All you need is a 1/8" headphone jack to RCA adapter cable, run that straight from the headphone out of the tablet into the amp. A 3-4lb 2ch amp should be more than enough power for 'casual' listening (the kind you would do in a stripped out, loud interior race car) so it's not much of a weight concern to get some good tunes.
Re: Sundance 6g72 "3.0 turbo build thread"(N/A DYNO SHEET pics inside)
not to mention, the tablet is much cleaner and cost effective than a bunch of gauges voltage, egt, afr, map/boost, rpm, speedo, coolant temp, air temp, timing advance,... And thats all I feel like naming off right now AND it data logs, plays music, goes on the internet, etc. Yeah any little amp will do. I power my fronts and rears off separate amps because my desk has 6ch output and I like to have my rears to have a little more dominance over the front speakers. Problem with the Tablet outputing sound is it will only have 2ch output and no crossovers, so its not for someone trying to have crystal clear super loud perfect audio. Overkill for most people anyways.
Re: Sundance 6g72 "3.0 turbo build thread"(N/A DYNO SHEET pics inside)
Well, I went to fire up the Duster only to find oil all over the floor. I always pop off the line going to my BOV to help it idle for about 5min. I noticed my timing belt was slick and then I saw the puddle under the timing side of the motor. Seem to have lost 3/4 quart or so. I took my brothers neon to work instead. I Broke a CTS and a Duster within a week. Im running out of cars! So once I get the CTS back up and running, I can fix the duster and try some 8000rpm revs in the name of "science" according to brent. WEEEEEEE
Re: Sundance 6g72 "3.0 turbo build thread"(N/A DYNO SHEET pics inside)
Think you had a cam seal fall out from poor installation? I have had the one in the distributor housing falling out before, my fault.
Re: Sundance 6g72 "3.0 turbo build thread"(N/A DYNO SHEET pics inside)
yes im sure of it. I tried to sneak the new cams in without checking the seals, It caught up with me.
Re: Sundance 6g72 "3.0 turbo build thread"(N/A DYNO SHEET pics inside)
I vote for dyno fund pool.
$10?
Re: Sundance 6g72 "3.0 turbo build thread"(N/A DYNO SHEET pics inside)
No way, you just have to wait like everyone else! :P
There is more to it than dyno cost. The motor NEEDS fresh oil but so does my CTS. It also needs insurance because it needs a tune before it goes on a paid dyno. It had a good tune last time but ive messed with it a bunch lately.
All I can say is I datalogged and my Duty Cycle at WOT was the same as it was on the dyno except with the new cams I can 8-10psi instead of 15-16psi
$60 dyno run plus $30ish in oil, $30 in fuel and a months insurance... not happening when im not sposed to be driving this car.
Re: Sundance 6g72 "3.0 turbo build thread"(N/A DYNO SHEET pics inside)
boooooo. I was going to throw money at you but.. :p
Re: Sundance 6g72 "3.0 turbo build thread"(N/A DYNO SHEET pics inside)
too much cash man.. and if something were to break while dynoing...... not good.
Re: Sundance 6g72 "3.0 turbo build thread"(N/A DYNO SHEET pics inside)
So today I pull the motor out. Tomorrow the car gets junked :O
If anyone needs any parts, post up. Ill see what I can do.
Its been a long road with this car.. and this thread has the post views out of any thread in this section. :)
Re: Sundance 6g72 "3.0 turbo build thread"(N/A DYNO SHEET pics inside)
So you are not parting the motor itself out?
Re: Sundance 6g72 "3.0 turbo build thread"(N/A DYNO SHEET pics inside)
correct. I'm keeping motor, trans, ecu.
Re: Sundance 6g72 "3.0 turbo build thread"(N/A DYNO SHEET pics inside)
Going for a new chassis then?
Re: Sundance 6g72 "3.0 turbo build thread"(N/A DYNO SHEET pics inside)
Yes. Thinking 1g Neon 2 door but need to sell my CTS first. We have too many cars at the house. Thats the only reason im letting go of the duster. It is in poor shape though so it works out.
Re: Sundance 6g72 "3.0 turbo build thread"(N/A DYNO SHEET pics inside)
buy mo' P body
Not sure what parts I could use....since they are already junked.
Re: Sundance 6g72 "3.0 turbo build thread"(N/A DYNO SHEET pics inside)
first post is updated with up to date stuff. Nothing new going on just thought id update it.
included a link for my maps if anyone wants them

Brent you know of anyone who has tried a pro charger on a 3.ol yet?

I would think the rippmod stuff is comparable, I would assume they used vortech blowers. So there are actually quite a few half built/failed projects out there and a few running ones. The only running centrifugal 12 valve out there I know if is in a 3000gt that has not been heard from in a long time but was tuned by Ray Pampena and made a bunch of power (high 200s) without a lot of boost. I also think that car is on another continent.
I have been wondering about a screwblower 6g72 and how much power it could make after the losses (screwblowers are low parasitic drag like centrifugal). Hard to figure out how much power they really can make based on displacement and rpm range. Not much data out there. Wondering if an 800-1000+hp turbo setup could be matched by a low loss blower setup on low displacement, not lower power comparisons.
