Re: 11/11/06: The Challenge
Good luck on those who try it. Because of gate and race times at the strips, you are best off starting at Cecil. The recommended and fastest route is as follows...

Good luck!

587 mi (about 10 hours 31 mins)
What times are each of the tracks open?
Re: 11/11/06: The Challenge
Cecil racing starts at 9 till 4 and Edgewater racing starts a 12 till 5. I made it the same distance towing with a bronco and 4 gas stops in 10.5hrs. I can definently be done in 8.

Re: 11/11/06: The Challenge
wow! Good luck to anyone that makes it! i'll throw in some free decals (if it's ok with the mods) something to the effect of...
"1 day, 2 passes, 500 miles"
if the winner wants for their car & bragging rights. he/she can design it themselves even!
Too bad there's no time-zone changes in there huh? Good luck to those that try!!

Oh thats fine by us, LOL.
Re: 11/11/06: The Challenge
If our SDAC-Chicago meeting wasn't Saturday, I might try to do it... from Chicago it would be more like 1500 miles tho, LOL
Re: 11/11/06: The Challenge
Leave it to the chicago guys... The Idea is to BE at 1 track when it opens not drive the entire thing that day.... Have another ZIMA
Re: 11/11/06: The Challenge
I was just talking to Bucar and we just remember Dave Lucidi talking about a particular Cannonball run event he "saw" that went from Philly to Atlanta and back and involved a half a dozen cars. WOW!!! Was that funny!!!
Come on, who is going to step up to the plate!!!!
Re: 11/11/06: The Challenge
No thanks, you can keep your OVC Zima ;)
Still 1500 miles no matter when the miles are driven... If it was not a meeting weekend I'd do it just to do it if I could get folks to chip in along the way for gas money :thumb:

I will pitch in $30.
Re: 11/11/06: The Challenge
We're discussing our holiday gathering this meeting... otherwise I'd be all for it.
Damn, that could be fun too... If I could plan 100octane every 200 miles I would be up for taking the Shadow too... probably would have to swap axles (I think) tho, vibrates around 80... smoothes out ~ 125 ;)
Re: 11/11/06: The Challenge

Yeah but you don't HAVE 8. By the time you get into Cecil - line up - run and leave at BEST it'll be 930... lanes will likely close before 5 at the other track... at the MOST you'd have 7 hours to make a 10.5 hour trip. The challenge is impossible... it'd be worth trying if there was an awesome prize but there isn't.
Re: 11/11/06: The Challenge
oh c'mon now... why the pessimist attitude?? it's not impossible, just highly unfeasible.
anyways, i take it nobody did it seeing it was this past weekend? so how were both events anyways?? for those that attend one or the other?

Thats Sean for you. ;) It is very possible! If you add 30 miles to that trip, a Bronco towing a daytona, 3 stops for gas, plus traffic south of pittsburgh, east of cleveland, and a few other areas... it was 10.5 hours to get from my house to the sdac 15 hotel.
But alas nobody attempted it.
