What is this support bar?
Spotted this on the Shelby Lancer last night. I haven't seen that before. My '88 Daytona's didn't have it nor
my '90 VNT Lebaron.
Is it there because of the 2 piece intake manifold?
It goes from the front bolt on the side of the head back to the intake.
Bolts to the bottom of the intake.
Re: What is this support bar?
It's the source of a giant vacuum leak if you forget to put it back on:lol: All the Whittier produced TII/two piece intake cars got it. Your VNT is a 2 piece Manifold??
Re: What is this support bar?
I believe that was installed on all TII two piece intake cars, not just the Shelby models.
Re: What is this support bar?
No, I said it didn't have the bar nor did my '88 Shelby Z
Re: What is this support bar?
I'm told it is there to prevent the intake from vibrating and creating false knock readings.

You got it right in the initial post. They didn't have the bar because they are both one piece intake cars.

That's new info. Thanks. I've been using that hole in the bottom of the plenum as a take off for a vacuum block/manifold. And, I've got a knock sensor pulling timing!
