What kind of MPG do you get with your R/T car?
I have a Spirit R/T that will be my work beater to replace my ram. The ram is costing my roughly $22 a day in gas just to go to work everyday. I'm trying to find out what kind of mileage I can expect from my R/T(stock), and if there are is anything I can do to improve the mileage even further. Any info would be appreciated.
THANKS!!
Bryan

With 93 octane 27-29 mpg, boosting occasionally. Best I can remember, wasn't stock for long.
Drive it like grandma should be able to get 30+.

Re: What kind of MPG do you get with your R/T car?
Sounds like your commute is pretty long so I would agree with Greg though I have never gotten over 30 mpg in my Spirit but I always get 29. When my Daytona was close to stock it got right at 30 on the highway also.
I just posted this to the RT mailing list earlier today:
I daily drive my Spirit R/T and this week I changed my driving style. Not because I am broke or anything, just to see what kind of mileage I can get out of my car if I need to. Normally I get 22-23 mpg on my 25 mile commute to and from work. Most of my drive is city with a 4 mile run on the highway. Normally I tach it up to atleast 3k each shift and boost it regularly at WOT. This week I have been shifting 1-4 by 2k and that puts me in 5th at 38 mph. I know it sounds boring and all and it is but just doing this has netted me 26.5 based on the on board traveler.
Re: What kind of MPG do you get with your R/T car?
has anybody played with the tranny gearing to get better mileage? Like going with the 3.50 final out of a 523/543?
Re: What kind of MPG do you get with your R/T car?
No, but I want to put 3.50's in mine. I think it would help a lot and not really hurt performance.
Re: What kind of MPG do you get with your R/T car?
bryan, i got about 27mpg with that spirit of yours. I'll even custom install a brick under the gas pedal to help you out. Or even better, throw in a 2.5 mpi non turbo engine
Re: What kind of MPG do you get with your R/T car?
I have 3.50 FD in my Spirit R/T and don't regret it a bit. I get 25-27 MPG delivering pizza in it and about 35 MPG on the highway. I just recently got over 500 miles out of a tank. For some strange reason my tank seems to hold almost 17 gallons though. 75 MPH = 2500 RPM.
Car has 3" exhaust, stg I cams, and ported exhaust manifold. There is nothing stock about the fuel system except for the stock SBEC. Walbro in-tank pump, 3/8" feed/return, 6AN braided SS lines, Russel inline filter, FWDP rail, MP +20s, Accufab regulator. Seems like everything I do to the car it gets better MPG.
Re: What kind of MPG do you get with your R/T car?
25-27 highway at 65 mph with the cruise on. 20ish in town.
Re: What kind of MPG do you get with your R/T car?
if you can stay in vacuum you can get 30mpg on the freeway.
nitrogen in the tires does help alot, filling them to 40psi would help too but obviously sucked when you wanted to hook up.

For 3 mpg, I'd rather keep my foot into it, :thumb:

Driving 80 mph on the interstate going to Reno I got 29 MPG. I thought it was good!

Thing is I'm not driving any slower, just not boosting it. I don't see this getting past this tank of gas though. :thumb:
Jeremy, 35 mpg is great in one of these cars. I need some 3.50s now.

It definately requires an an adjustment to the launch technique. But once you get it down, 40 MPH (in 1st) comes up pretty damn quick.
Re: What kind of MPG do you get with your R/T car?
I get 31 to 32 on trips to SD. Around town is about 23 if I'm easy on it. I have 3" exhaust which improved it by about 2 mpg... I have the 3.77 FD... Also a good O2 sensor/tune-up makes a good difference.....

Re: What kind of MPG do you get with your R/T car?

Re: What kind of MPG do you get with your R/T car?
No way will my car do that?! My car has *no* low end but pulls hard only after 3000 RPM. I miss my stock cams.:o

I had a 3.50 FD in one of my Spirits and I dontr think it actually helped the milage. At highway speeds in 5th it seemed to lug it more that the 3.85 and actually make it work harder at that speed. I would say they put 3.85s in the heavy tanks for a reason.
Sorry Jeremy:p
