Re: 89 year 520/555 hybrid trans
Xterempickup, I've been where you are working long hours 6 days a week (sometimes 7). I know how draining it is to come home, eat, take a shower and go to bed knowing you have to get up early and do it all over again. I've been lurking (salivating) over this hybrid tranny you posted. The drive up there and back, with food, fuel and motel rooms, would cost me a lot more than what it's selling for.
If you do change your mind and decide you could ship it, we could talk. But I understand where you're coming from. You really need that one day a week to rest and try to hold onto what sanity you have left.
Dan H., thanks for your generous offer. If you ever want to see how weird and beautiful Austin is, just let me know.
Re: 89 year 520/555 hybrid trans
i just dont have the time to devote to buying the stuff to ship the trans in, then packing it and then getting to a place to get a price. its all time, then when somebody doesn't like the price i'm stuck sitting on a trans that ive wasted money on.

Update. Received the trans. Dismantled it to inspect the internals and replace anything that needed it.
It's definitely a 520/555 hybrid.
It was definitely gone through at one time or another. Everything looks fine except the counter shaft is bad in the typical wear spot where the bearing rides.
Sucks getting stuck holding the bag for something that's defective. Just not worth trying to recoup lost money on and I gifted the funds so I have zero recourse.
I believe the seller when he said he was told it was fine and whoever drove it last probably thought it was fine however this thing had to make noise.
Bright side is I guess I got any part I may need in the future for my current A555 except the counter shaft.
Moral of the story. Get a guarantee or when buying an A555 only pay what you would want to pay + factor in a used counter shaft / repair IF YOU CAN FIND ONE!
