Best rockauto.com clutch for A555 Daily
What's the best clutch for the money on rockauto.com for an A555 small spline 1987?
Pulled the clutch and the flywheel needs resurfacing as it has hot spots and the clutx/ PP is pretty worn.
Just looking for something smooth for a kid to learn on don't need any performance, more so reliability and learning how not to ride the clutch lol.

Other than sticking with an OEM name brand like Valeo, Sachs or LUK it will be a roll of the dice.
The aftermarket as the demand for these parts has shrunken has likewise consolidated coverage so they are selling the same part numbers to cover multiple engine applications. Without looking at the parts catalog I would guess to say Chrysler had a dozen different friction discs and pressure plates over the run of the 2.2/2.5 engines with the disc and pressure plate matched to the engine power output. Whereas the aftermarket has 4 different friction discs to cover small spline, large spline and small diameter (2.2 carb & tbi) vs the the larger disc used on everything else. Same for the pressure plates, smaller bolt pattern for the 2.2 carb/tbi and the bigger pattern for everyone else.
That is a long winded answer, because of the 'it all fits and bolts together' viewpoint of the aftermarket.

look at ones for a TII car, like an 89 Shelby Daytona 2.2L
That was the way to do it before there was performance ones for these cars.

If there are any mods at all, I would talk to Chris at TU. I've found that event a ported exhaust manifold, exhaust, and two piece intake will cause a "stock" clutch to slip these days. A TII/TIII setup is about the least I'll do. Even in my minivan which sees stock boost, I put in a performance clutch due to vehicle weight. I don't regret it at all. I also enjoy not having to worry about the springs coming out given that I opted for the non-sprung hub.

So far plan is stock TII set up but I'll gasket match intakes (2 piece) and exhaust manifold.
Currently it has a stock 36 yr old muffler and exhaust minus the cat. Still has the 2.25" swing valve.
I want bump it up to a 2.5" swing valve and full exhaust.
Still staying stock boost tables.
She needs to learn how to drive before having too much fun haha.

If you keep the boost down, you should be fine with a stock type clutch. It might be the way to go for a new driver anyway.

Ya I think that's the way to go.
The flywheel was burnt with just a stock clutch, one of the PO's must have been doing clutch dumps haha.
