Tire and wheel size selection/options, 91 R/T!
Ok, looking at some wheels for the white R/T,
I want black as I think they look awesome on a white R/T. I have 2 styles I like but need to figure out tire size and offset. The car is lowered aprox 1.5-2 inches if memory serves.
If I went 16", I would use a P225/50R16 and probably use the stock offset, which is around 45mm correct?
If I went 17", what size tire would I use?
I like this style -

Ok, 225/50R16 equals a 225/45R17 or 245/40R17 not sure if a 245 will clear.
Re: Tire and wheel size selection/options, 91 R/T!
ride totally depends on the tires.. i went from 225/50r16 to 225/40r18 on one car and it rode better on more hardcore tires, go figure.
i wouldnt spend money on an aftermarket wheel unless its at least 7.0 inches wide. On all k-cars go for something between 35 and 40 offset. 40 is stock on 6.0 wide wheels, but keep in mind that going to a wider wheel on the same offset is gonna eat clearance on the inside.
for a 17, 225/47r17 is a good height and has huge selection and good price and will fit on 7.0.

Yep, I would get an offset to move the wheels outward as they sit too far in, imho.
Re: Tire and wheel size selection/options, 91 R/T!
245/40 is a bit big, I get a bit of rubbing on my Daytona and you want to mount them on an 8" rim. 225/45 is a better fit and you can mount them on a 7 - 8" rim. +35 is the common offset, some you will see +38 or +40. I would only recommend +40 on a 7" as Vigo said.
I do like the black rim with polished lip on a white car.

I like that 2nd pic, yeah Turbo3Iroc has it pretty much nailed. For ease of installation and clearance I would go with 225/45 for 17's on as close to 35offset you can get. They should clear OK. I dont think the 245/40/17's will clear w/o some very slight mods.
Or the 16's would be good also

Really? I love the first wheels and 2nd pick would be the last ones but he hasn't called me back. I emailed him, called and left a message yesterday with BOTH my numbers and nothing. Funny, he's lowered his price 3 times, can't understand why?
Re: Tire and wheel size selection/options, 91 R/T!
i have 17x8s +35 with 245/40r17 on one car and that does clear on the inside with no mods but rubs the fenders on compression since my car is lowered so much. i think rolling the insides will fix it but i dont drive the car enough to care to do it yet so cant say for certain.
17x7 +35 w/ 225/45r17 is a sure fire combo.
