Test Digital Cluster 86 Lebaron?
The local you pull yard got an 86 Lebaron turbo convertible and I saw it had the digital cluster so I grabbed it. Anyone know what wires to use and what voltage to run to it to see if it works? Can't check in the yard and even if you could the keys were gone.
I'm having a tough time sorting out the interchange on it, looks like:
1986 Lebaron all, New Yorker, possibly Dodge 600 and Caravelle
1987-1988 Lebaron sedan, wagon only plus New Yorker, Dodge 600, Caravelle
Plus it's a non-tach cluster, some of those cars may have one.
Curious the car doesn't appear to be rusted, but the doors will no longer close since it's been picked up with a loader a couple times.
Re: Test Digital Cluster 86 Lebaron?
presuming your cluster has a traveler computer on the left side
yes some cars had tachs.. I have one of those clusters
I long ago forgot which wires to hook up to test it but don't use a 12v battery .. it's probably way to much voltage for the cluster
I used a power supply from an old cigarette vending machine to test my electronics as it's 3 or 5 volts .. like most clusters need
all the K car rag tops I ever saw .. perched on top another car were bent after the doors opened for the last time
the later J body lebaron rags had a really beefie reinforcement running along the center tunnel that branched at the rear seat riser and covered both rear frame rails.. from inside the car.. they don't bend when you open the doors..

Strange every electronic cluster I have tested has a constant battery feed, one or more and one or more ignition feeds along with one and occasionally 2 grounds. In the service manuals there is a diagnostic procedure that can be run in-car or on a bench using a nice regulated DC power supply.
