I got that "dealer-factory" plate with the car.
Brake pads did show up today for the rear.
These should give better rear brake grip.
Bought 2 axles from Rossion.
The brown truck showed up today with them.
One has a tore boot.
The other one looks new.
Got the mess made by the old axle's tore boot cleaned up. What a mess.
Installed the new axle.
Replaced all 4 springs, 450 front and 550 rear. It had 350 on all four corners from the factory.
Tomorrow will be replacing the rear "Fireo" store bought brake pads with the yellow EBC ones..

Took Mike's advice on the springs. Original springs are 2-1/2"x10 inch.
The new ones are 9 inch. SO MUCH easier to install the shorter ones.
I got a chance to drive my car today. I changed the springs to the
550 rear and 450 front.
Much better!!
Less floaty feel. Well, none now.
The new shocked helped a lot, the springs even more so.
Also when you step on it, the rear doest squat like it did.
But for the first time it got loose in a corner under power.
Let off the gas a little and settled in the groove.
I was also getting a LOT more power than I have in the past.
Re-installed the stock turbo, but used the TU header and better intake.
Boost was immediate to 14 psi. This baby goes!
Took the cat off and installed a "test" pipe. So now its just the 3" swing valve, 3 inch dia. down pipe (about 7 inches long)
then about a 90 degree mandrel bend, then a 14 inch straight, then the twin tip Monza exit.
Without the cat it is not much louder.
Report on the brake change.
first was getting them adjusted and bled, then break them in.
just drove it to Portland, 230 miles.
the yellow pads seems to really balance out the braking.
with the mini van front brakes I put on, the fronts over powered the rears when braking real hard. Now with the rear gripping they brake both well. This car brakes GREAT!
NOW...have one issue on the brakes to fix. There must be a one way valve that stops vacuum from coming out of the brake booster under boost. I think this because power braking works perfect normally, but if I had just had boost on, then brake right after, there seems to be no booster helping.
That picture is awesome Johnny. Talk about a cool driveway.
IIRC the check valve is part of the connector that the vacuum line connects to.
Looks like I finally will be getting an engine cover.....
If you look at this one and compare where the hole is (the hole is where the louvers would go),
compared to where the louvers are on this image from my car back in the day, the hole looks
in a different place.
I really don't like the hump back look of the engine cover.
I plan on getting a duplicate made using this one as a mold.
Then add a air scoop something like the series 2 except larger,
facing toward the rear of the car.
Letting the air go out the scoop in place of the louvers.
agreed the hole looks like it's farther towards the passenger cabin.
Which I like!Quote:

Had a couple vinyl "CONSULIER" 's made. Originally there were in the same spot, only white.
But the white they had in stock was bright white and looked wrong. So I used the same color
as the 22, I like it.
I would like to see a clear hood made from that mold . that be cool.
OR just leave the hole so the engine can be seen.
Having an issue with the brakes.
No power assist when hitting the brakes after boosting.'
Changed the one way valve, no help.
Changed the booster, that was it.
All good now!
Autocross Sunday!
Autocross at Willamette Pass ski area. Brake work great. I sucked at driving.
But had fun!!
Went to cars and coffee Saturday morning in Tigard Oregon.
Johnny, did you ever sort out the low boost issue?
