Transmission won't go into reverse
Bought an 89 Daytona with 2.5l and an A413. Rebuilt the engine and found the trans does not go into reverse. In the driveway it moves forward some but won't go backwards. The rear band is adjusted correctly.
In reverse, pressure to the servo took a few seconds to come up. Initially when 8t does the tire does not move. (Wheels in the air ) if you give a little throttle pressure goes to zero. If you just wait, the tires will spin backwards a little then pressure goes to zero.
What is going on?
Re: Transmission won't go into reverse
Maybe the servo just has bad sealing rings? If it has to do with the low/reverse band it would also have symptoms in manual low. If the servo itself is not leaking horribly i would think it would have to be in the valve body because you obviously have pump pressure in other gears and my assumption is that your front clutch must be ok since you didn't mention 3rd gear problems.
I dont remember for sure but maybe this is one of those apps that has plastic servo/accumulator pistons that like to just break.
Re: Transmission won't go into reverse
I did check the piston and seal for the rear band and it looked fine. I should have mentioned earlier that pressure only reached a max of 150psi. I think it is supposed to be ~300psi. I need to check other pressures and see what they are doing,..
I have also been thinking valve body is the problem, but trying to figure out how to prove it...
Re: Transmission won't go into reverse
Ok, rereading your post a little more closely..
It does not move forward normally even in drive?
You saw 150psi applied to the rear band servo?
