280hp 304ft/lb Dyno, Stock 3.0 Turbo, stock timing.
Really happy with the powerband. Cams will make a bunch more power but it proves my opinion/experience that a big turbo moves the powerband to the right. More power at 6200 rpms than 4500. That means even at 6200 rpms the motor drops out of peak power by a LOT.. 3.50 final drive a543, 240hp at 6200 rpms and when shifting to 2nd gear you drop to 3900 rpms and only 195whp. Crazy! Mindblowing! The stock rev limiter is holding back turbo 3.0s even on stock cams! 2nd to 3rd gear drops from 240whp @ 6200 rpms to 225hp @ 4300 rpms!!!!
Pushed coolant on the 3rd 13ish psi run so we (with Reaper1) backed it back down to 10psi. It was probably starting to knock at 12psi.
Stock 3.0 motor, 92 octane. Stock n/a timing map. With timing control there is probably a lot more room to go and the same with alky injection on stock timing. Probably more to gain with modified timing maps.
We were at my Union's yearly car show and they had a mobile dyno at the event. Only out torqued by a Corvette and only by 9 ft/lb :P The supercharged alcohol dragster that tried to make a pull came in last place lol.

That's pretty decent. I really liked the captions for the photos!

I have a video, too, but it's the same pull. I couldn't get the other 2 pulls from inside the car because my SD card filled up! First time I've had that happen! LOL

I made more power

Nice!
I always said there was plenty of room to advance base timing way up on N/A ... (Allpar be like, not even ONE degree, you'll BLOW your motor)
Given that one of the oldskool 3.0 sites said that the SMEC could tune in 27lb injectors, (Phatfoto???) then it seems like your basic quick and dirty 3.0 turbo mod recipe is 27lb injectors, RR FPR and 10 PSI. Or potentially get away with the 2.x turbo motor, 55 PSI FPR.

Yeah, I hit ceiling pretty hard on pump gas with stock timing and no alky. It does not surprise me that an ebay turbo and e85 can be potent.

Yes, even the most ghetto setups make sense as long as you avoid closed loop part throttle boost. Just get enough fuel to match open loop WOT fuel demands and let adaptation correct out the rest of the problems your overfueled setup will create. Those ghetto setups also make more sense than extra injectors which will not compensate properly throughout the rpm range.

I was actually pretty annoyed by what happened when I turned up the boost. I knew there was no octane to spare with all that timing but with the rarity that I hit up a dyno I wanted to push things farther. I have been tempted the last 2 months to install a Methanol injection system but the high cost was holding me back. They are so expensive, I don't know how I talked myself into buying my first one. The good kits cost the same as an assembled Megasquirt II ...or more!.

just get an extra injector and rig it into your intake pipe. run a hose to it with a fish tank pump. put some e85 in a little tank and you are set with custom e85 injection!

doubt the fishtank pump will even fight a couple of psi boost.
My ghetto fuel boost = plumb some propane through the evap line controlled by an extra evap or baro solonoid....

Better yet, don't modify the car! I have no reason to make more power, especially when my daily driver is currently my fastest car. That makes the least sense of all this :P

So what you are saying is that you are going to buy a meth kit?

Heard people make money with that stuff. Maybe I could afford a methanol kit then! My car budget should be zero dollars for the next 2+ years :P
Exciting news about the car. After maybe 3 years of being plugged, the brass pipe plug blew out of the threaded hole that I have for an EGT probe. That was a bit scary on my way to work. Glad its not near any wires. It happened while cruising.

Re: 280hp 304ft/lb Dyno, Stock 3.0 Turbo, stock timing.
One of these days I am going to build a 3.0 car. They are so impressive! If I didn't have a built 2.0 sitting in my shop for my neon I think I would really be contemplating doing a 3.0 swap into it.
