Rear Brakes on a Consulier
(to start with, these are the stock 1988 Fireo rear brakes Consulier used)
I changed my calipers and pads when I first got mine. All worked fine.
Now I replaced the pads with race pads, or tried to. Not working out so well.
Looked up on line and found some info...

These might be a great design, but I don't understand them yet.
I need to get mine to adjust. I made things worse.

If I didn't need a rear parking brake I'd change them over to the same Mopar ones as we have on the front.

Not having an emergency brake bothers me a little on the race track for sure. I may have Todd at TCE fab something up for me.

How about a second caliper setup for a parking brake. I think brembo and willwood have some small calipers meant for this.

I've got a neighbor that has an 88 fiero GT and says they have to be super clean to self adjust or you'll be adjusting them manually until the end of time. Also says they like clean fluid.
Just like drum brake hardware self adjusters...dirty=no worky

but did get my brakes to bleed and adjust.
now they work great. The yellow pads are amazing.
have fabulous brakes now.

ok, cool, glad to hear the yellow pads work. I still need to do mine as well. I scuffed the pads ( they are almost new ) when I had the rotors turned but the brakes feel ever so slightly softer. I also think I have a bad hub bearing or u-joint because I have an odd fast squeak ( sounds like a dry u-joint while driving slow ) after I've been on the hwy for a little while. Now that the A/C system works well I've been trying to drive it a lot to find all of the bugs.
