Important fuel pump replacement tip!!!
Its just come to my attention that some of you are reusing the rubber piece that goes between the pump and the sending unit, known as a pulsator-Please, DO NOT reuse it, simply run the hose from the pump to the sending unit-these fail and cause all kinds of fuel pressure issues.
Please sticky this!!!!!!!!!!
Re: Important fuel pump replacement tip!!!
x2 I found this out the hard way!!
Re: Important fuel pump replacement tip!!!
is this a van only thing? the sending unit is for the gauge right?
Re: Important fuel pump replacement tip!!!
Nope, all model thing, GM used them too. When they first starting using intank pumps, they would pulsate and that isn't acceptable as you could hear it, so they added that device to stop it. Some of the fuel rails have it, that big round disc on the end of some does the same thing, it dampens the pulses so you can't hear them.
I don't think I have any kicking around, if someone want's to snap a pic and post it up.
Re: Important fuel pump replacement tip!!!
I"ll leak fp causing your car to go lean and cause big headaches, been down that road, just get rid of another potential fail point

You have to pull the tank on P bodies? On Daytonas and Lebarons you jack up the driver's rear and theres plenty of room to Pull/Swap without turning a bolt on the tank. I would have thought Ps would be the same

Technically, you can do it with the tank in ANY of our cars from what I've heard. I don't know how true it is.
Re: Important fuel pump replacement tip!!!
I can pull my daytonas and have it swapped in about 20minutes, I dont even have to jack the car up.
Re: Important fuel pump replacement tip!!!
Fuel pump access on Lbody is on the passenger side, on the bottom of the tank.
P-body and G-body can be done under the car, easily.

Re: Important fuel pump replacement tip!!!
Sorry to thread jack but, Could this be whats causing an '89 Daytona CS not to start? The PO put a Walbro 255 LPH pump on it and said it started but when he gave it gas it just puttered out?
Re: Important fuel pump replacement tip!!!
All cars you can leave the tank in, vans it has to come out.

It could be but the supplied intank hose is also poor quality.
Re: Important fuel pump replacement tip!!!
Lol when i had my mini i lost fuel pressure dropped the tank and that little booger was slipped right off. Only made sense to put in a walbro anyway while it was apart lol. I left the stupid diaphram out of the loop too. I posted about thus quite some time back.

Check fuel pressure yet?
30R10 is the correct hose to use for intanke.
