Squealing serpentine belt
I just replaced the serpentine belt (Dayco I think) and it squeals at startup but it eventually will go *almost* go away. Blip the throttle and it comes back.
Since it's an automatic tensioner, is this a belt thing, a tensioner thing, or a pulley thing?
Thanks in advance,
Mike
Re: Squealing serpentine belt
Sounds like a tensioner thing, especially if the belt is brand new. The tensioner should be very firm when you are trying to release pressure from the belt, if it isn't then that's probably your issue. I would definitely inspect the rest of your pulleys though to make sure they all look and sound okay.

Get yourself a continental elite/Goodyear gatorback belt P/N 4060785. Done!
Re: Squealing serpentine belt
I second this! Just make sure you have the right part number depending on if the car has AC or not
Re: Squealing serpentine belt
Does the alternator have new isolator bushings? Old ones let the alternator sit at an angle.
Re: Squealing serpentine belt
That's the beauty of the TIII, the alternator is mounted solid, no bushings.
Re: Squealing serpentine belt
I did not know that. Thanks!
