87 csx problems
I just picked up csx #585 this past week. It ran fine for the previous owner as well as when I came to see it last weekend. Now that it's home, it's cranking and not starting intermittantly. I'm not getting any codes.
Seems to be ignition related because the tachometer doesn't move when it's not starting. I was looking into the possibility of a pick up coil, but I'm not sure an 88 pick up is the same before I swap that in. Also, I don't have an 87 manual, but I have 88, and 89. I have repaired some questionable fuseable links, but that hasn't fixed the problem. Any ideas where to start? I'm just not used to LM- PM cars.

Re: 87 csx problems
A 1988 Hall Effect Pickup should work just fine in your 87 CSX. Most 1986, all of 87 & up should be the same.

Re: 87 csx problems
Thanks for the answer. Eventually, it generated a code 11, but I was ready to swap in one from my 88, so all is well, running and fresh coolant circulated for winter. Replacement pick up on order today.

Re: 87 csx problems
Jamie,
Please save the old defective HEP. I would like to rip it apart to determine its root cause of failure, if you are willing.

It's sitting in the snow right now, but it's here if you really want it, Miles
