voyagers struts on a shadow
1/ Is it possible to mounts these struts (https://www.leboncoin.fr/equipement_auto/966002800.htm) that come from a 1995 2.5L TD voyager on a shadow ?
If not should I look for older voyagers (1st gen) ?
I would like to raise the car to go outside of the roads.
2/ There are many A598 (used with the same engines) available here, I have read that there are compatible with our car (beefier A568 trans), is this correct ?
thanks
Re: voyagers struts on a shadow
i would get struts from a 84-90 voyager.
they should bolt right on.
Re: voyagers struts on a shadow
Thanks, unfortunately these first gen are getting harder to find here
Re: voyagers struts on a shadow
rock auto.com you just need spring and strut.
Re: voyagers struts on a shadow
I've got a very low mileage set of strut cartridges off a v6 van. Probably have been used less than 3000 miles. But i think shipping would be high. I'm in the US.
These were new replacements i had on MeanMini until i realized they were for v6 van.
Re: voyagers struts on a shadow
The vans and shadows have different struts and different strut mounts. The struts on the van are I think an inch or 2 taller
Re: voyagers struts on a shadow
Yes, but he wants to raise the vehicle for more clearance on those European country roads.
The strut mount is different? Are you sure? They look the same, and there was an old thread where someone else did just this - put van struts on a shadow.
Re: voyagers struts on a shadow
The bolt pattern is larger I am pretty sure. but you can swap out the one from the car and it will work fine

I stand corrected at least by rock auto they are the same part #
Re: voyagers struts on a shadow
i put 90 caravan struts on a 93 shadow.
if you have the unequal length shafts, youll need to cut and reinforce the k frame for clearance for the long shaft or youll need to run the turbo car equal length shafts. spacing down the kframe would help too. youll also need to stretch the cv boots a little longer so that at the steeper angles, the cv's wont cut the boot.
in the rear youll either need to make spring spacers to lift the rear springs and make extensions for the rear shocks, or youll need to run longer rear springs and shocks.
chevy s10 2wd front springs work pretty well in the back.

Re: voyagers struts on a shadow
I don't now if it has unequal length shafts, it is a 89 2.5L TI shadow.
If I have to modify the K frame, I will not go any further.
Can I only use voyager springs on shadow struts ?
Wayne, I may be interested by your struts, if I can mount them w/o further modification.
Why they were not good for you (different engine doesn't mean different struts ?) ?
Re: voyagers struts on a shadow
if it is a manual it would have equal..
not sure about the auto any more.. i dont think the autos ever got equal length axles factory.

I bought them from KYB Outlet, and didn’t realize i had purchased cartridge struts (entire strut with springs and mounts, easy bolt in replacement ) for a v6 equipped minivan. So these were a bit taller. They were installed for about 6 months, maybe longer. And i just kept them on when having the van painted so i wouldn't get overspray on the konis i was going to put in.
You could probably disassemble and cut the coil down for your preferred ride height.

If they'll work for you, shipping might be expensive, but if you need some shipped from the US, you can have them for "best offer" + shipping.
If you can use the rear shocks from a minivan, they may be longer if you look at the specifications, you can have them too.
I just found my receipt, and yikes was i surprised. For reference :

Re: voyagers struts on a shadow
It is an auto trans.
Waynes, I'm interested by your struts and shocks but I need first to investigate about the k frame clearance.
Brian, do you have pics ?
Re: voyagers struts on a shadow
No problem. These aren't going anywhere anytime soon.
