Who's running a T3/T4 turbo with a .48 turbine housing? Looking for results.
I'm looking to upgrade to a T3/T04e 50 super 50 trim with a .48 stage 2 housing. Car is mostly a DD and trying to keep a quick spool. I had one with a .68 stage 2 ball bearing on my shadow and it ran good, but this one will be a journal bearing. This one will be going on my 85 SC. It has forged pistons, big valve ported head, big plenum 1 pc intake, TU exh manifold, tbi cam, 3" exh, big front mount and sds stand alone efi. Currently running a super 60, but the seals are shot and it's smoking bad. Hoping someone has run a similar turbo so I can hear some feedback on how it performs.

I'm not going to dig it up because I stink at the search function, but I know that jckrieger on here has run about every combination of old school turbo you could shake a stick at. He's had great success in the past using a small housing with a hybrid turbo.

I don't have the exact turbo you're planning to run, but here's some data that may help you decide.
Turbo lag / response time thread, I had a few posts in there. It's data, so take from it what you will, and maybe add to it once you made your choice. http://www.turbo-mopar.com/forums/sh...ght=full+boost
Dyno results from the same turbo 299 whp and 355wtq http://www.turbo-mopar.com/forums/sh...lts&highlight=

What is your HP goal? Less than 300hp? Keep the Super 60. If over, then go bigger.

Does it have a real t4 cover or a modified stocker? You will be happy if it has a real cover, not if it doesn't.

I concur. I was very surprised how much of a difference the native housing made.

MILKCARTON has made 300whp on a stockish 2.5 w/ my old .48 50 trim from FWD-P.

No particular hp goal yet I know the super 60 can put down some good power, but it's smoking pretty bad, so I'm debating just upgrading. I may try to rebuild it first just to see how far I can push it. This is the first super 60 I've had.

Yeah, If I get one it will be a true To4e cover.

Thanks for the info everyone. That's just the info I was looking for. After seeing the srt forum links, I think I'll be trying a .48 stage 3 on my 2.4 when it ges back together also.

You could also look at installing a billet wheel into the oldschool turbo if you are willing to spend money. Get a little more power but the same spooling characteristics.
