The SBEC dissassembly project- A request for help
Since some ECUs are starting to get more rare, I started a few years back to better understand their inner working and we have accumulated enough info to produce a schematic. We are now at a point in theory that we could convert EFI/V6 to turbo units but need documentation. I would like to create a schematic using Kicad and I need your help. www.Kicad.org is free software for electronic CAD. Your involvement can be small or large.
Various tasks could include
1) use a multimeter to determine where each of the 60 way pins go for example.
2)remove all components from each side of the PCB and photograph.
3) Sand down the top side to reveal the inner layer and photograph.
4)take the above info to help produce a schematic.
5)create schematic diagrams for the special items
If you are not experienced in this field, this is an excellent opportunity to learn. This is open to everyone.

Should I continue with mine? I have most of the removable components off, but have been busy with other projects.

I've been looking into doing the same thing with SMECs I have a mostly stripped SMEC board, but also do have a TI SBEC sitting here that I wasnt planning on using for anything....

I was also interested in looking at the SMEC but tackled the SBEC first.
Both the SMEC and SBEC family use concepts very similar to the LM. I found the adv turbo document very useful for reverse logic engineering of the SBEC2-652

I also found the following SBEC2-652 very useful
