Am i seeing this right that you lifted it out by strapping from the cam ???

Just the head and turbo. NOT the engine.

If done a with a little care I can balance the head perfectly side to side, the with the strap around the intake I can adjust the front to back angle. and even hold it by hand if I want as the other strap carries the weight. With this setup I can put the head on by myself without hurting the head gasket.

I guess that just surprises me, and i would not have guessed it.
I have no hoist, so I've only lifted them off by hand, but that becomes dependant on a second person.
I used to pick them off by hand by my self....before I got "older".
BUT this would have needed a lift anyway, as with the Consulier, you'd have to lean over way to far.
Can't drop the whole thing out the bottom?
Was going to, but on this it was easier to go out the top.
Issue, could not get the lower gear off. Found some other styles in my stash but as you can see its different. Thanks to a guy here that has a shop and is an x mopar dealer mechanic, he had the correct pulling tool....and let me barrow it.
So the engine is ready, new oil pump, pan on, all the seals and end plates on. Also the new light flywheels is on, as is the new clutch.
Next is mate the trans to the engine and drop it into place.

And showing the old clutch and pressure plate. It was at the end of it's life cycle.
why would you need to take the crank gear off?
To take it off the old engine to put it on the new engine...because I could not find one just like the the old engine had in my parts I have. All I have is the shorter kind or the kind for common blocks.
ahhh IC
Took two lifts, but got the trans and the engine mated this morning.
Something I noticed. The GTP had/has an oil pan with a bulge on the bottom, most of the other engines I have are like this flat one.
Trans has a few things different than a stock 555. Photos should show that.
Johnny the one with the bulge (sump) holds a quart less than the one on the right. Pickup is different too. The oil dipstick should be different as well. IIRC the flat bottom pan should have a silver handle and the sump pan uses a black handle dipstick. If this thing is being driven cross country to SDAC, kudos to you:clap:. You have been busy and are coming down to the wire. You can rest when your dead right? :p

I'd swap the stock pan and pickup over to the new motor. better oil control.
I used the stock GTP pan and dip stick on the new engine. (the one with the bump)
Engine is in and bolted up.
you used the stock pickup then too? Cause it's made specifically for that pan. The other one won't work right.
Also, I hope you knocked those dents out of it. That closes the gap between the pan and the pickup and could cause starvation issues.
No dents, just looks like that in the photo.Quote:
