Boost lag test, 24.1psi result in 1.074 second.
Since I can do all kind of logging with MS, I thought I would do a boost lag test. Test was done in third gear.
39.915 seconds since log started, 4475RPM, -3psi (vacuum)

40.989 seconds since log started, 4973RPM, 24.1psi

Boost Lag, 1.074 second from -3psi to 24.1psi in 3rd gear.
Re: Boost lag test, 24.1psi result in 1.074 second.
Damn man. My SRT-4 doesn't even boost that fast.
Re: Boost lag test, 24.1psi result in 1.074 second.
Directly feeding knock sensor or teeing off?

Not sure what you guys are looking at to quantify "fast". An SRT-4 stock turbo spools 3x as fast as what is shown here.
What I'm looking at seems about average for what this turbo with the supporting mods Should spool at..........

That's what I was meaning, on an 8 valve I think that's a pretty quick spool up

And don't get me wrong, this is in No way a shot at tryingbe, as I think he's doing an Excellent job of working things out to the point where he should be close to laying down some Good #'s on his set-up.
If anything, I think this just highlights that Most Struggle to get things sorted out and never seen the kind of success others have had and so it all Seems smoke and mirrors.

Me either. I can't data log my Lancer, but I guarantee that it does not spool that quick even with the big valve ported head, ported 2 piece intake, TU exhaust manifold, and triple BB Comp turbo.
Re: Boost lag test, 24.1psi result in 1.074 second.
Just remember, -3 psi is pretty much spooled up already, it'd probably take if he were at 10-20 inHG
Re: Boost lag test, 24.1psi result in 1.074 second.
What was the start RPM of your test?
I think what you've shown here is pretty good.
I'm sure one second feels longer in the car!

Re: Boost lag test, 24.1psi result in 1.074 second.
I think this will give you a more accurate depiction of what is going on;
Boost starts, 0.1psi hits at 1554RPM in third gear.
5psi hits at 2977RPM in third gear.
10psi hits at 3629RPM in third gear.
23.6psi in fourth gear at 3993RPM
Other than that, you'd have to go for a spin and hold it in third @ 4500rpm and nail it to compare what's being shown here. Remember, any turbo that reaches full spool sooner than the "Go" rpm Should be Instant ON!
Re: Boost lag test, 24.1psi result in 1.074 second.
Anyone want to add to Tryingbe's original thread on boost response?
