Chris Greenhouse big crash at Pacific Forest Rally
Chris Greenhouse big crash at Pacific Forest Rally
Pacific Forest Rally in Merritt, BC, Canada didn't go too well for us, as we suffered a pretty serious crash on the first stage

We still finished the stage, and the next stage too, until we got back to service and were unable to continue

Yeah, ouch! Hope you guys were ok afterwards. Keep the videos coming, you're my best source for rally videos, other than the WRC app.
Re: Chris Greenhouse big crash at Pacific Forest Rally
OUCH! Sorry to see this. I hope you guys are OK.
Re: Chris Greenhouse big crash at Pacific Forest Rally
Care! Deceptive! :D
Hah, sorry, glad you're okay. Yah I did that in snow once in a relly's Neon, got away with it better though. Figured my mistake was letting off the gas too sharp when I realised the arse was loose, brung it all the way then.

What is the advantage of doing a full clip vs. a whole new car? Just curious as it's kind of an intriguing look at what race cars and teams go through.

I would think it's because if you started with a new car you would have to start over with race prepping the car. Stuff like stripping all the seam sealer and ect. off so that you can weld up all the seams in the body would all need to be re-done. Any custom work to motor and drivetrain mounts would need re done, also the cage and any other associated race prep stuff.
Re: Chris Greenhouse big crash at Pacific Forest Rally
I suspect you'd also have to get it recertified/inspected, which means all the little tricks could be seen. :) (I kid, I kid...)

Wow that's some incredible body work. Glad you got it fixed!
Re: Chris Greenhouse big crash at Pacific Forest Rally
You guys interested in doing a bit of rust work and paint on the Matchbox?
Now you can understand why I only go in straight lines!

Where's the fun in that? :p
Re: Chris Greenhouse big crash at Pacific Forest Rally
What I don't understand, is the golden opportunity to make a Neon wagon, wasted :p
Oh right, homologation...
Though, in GT and sportscar racing there were those "breadvan" specials....

There's a place in Scottsburg IN that redo wrecked Prius cars into rebuilds...or even rebuilt into pick ups and limos! Why not a limo or pick up Neon! LOL

I cannot take credit for the body work. Juergen Baumann of Plain City OH was responsible for the clip, and my crew chief Gary Cupp did most of the rest of it.
Jon, I have a friend in the UP of Michigan by the same name who is a big-time rally supporter and volunteer of the Lake Superior Perf. Rally

If you had a Neon wagon, would you call it a "Naggin'?";)
Re: Chris Greenhouse big crash at Pacific Forest Rally
Wow, I don't know how I missed this. Glad you guys are OK, and I'm also glad that you'll have the car back in prime shape soon. It's amazing what you were able to do with it.
