WTB Built or rebuilt 2.5 Shortblock
170K on the stock bottom end of my 89 Mini Woody, loaned it to a friend last year and he called me dead on the side of the road near midnight. Now maybe it was just time but this particular friend isn't a car guy or even mechanical so maybe he hastened it's demise? At least he's offering to 'pay to fix It'. I know that doesn't include all the hours I'll have into it but still I'd like to have Woody back on the road. He already has a nicely built OBX 413, big valve head, custom one piece intake and I've got a nice new turbo I want to try:eyebrows:
I'd prefer a forged piston no miles or low miles well prepoed bottom end shipped to 92692. Whatcha got?
Re: WTB Built or rebuilt 2.5 Shortblock
I had a short block rebuilt locally for 450$. bought some pistons online for 80$.. done deal.
If you really need. and want to pay for it.
I'll see if i can get a spare 2.5 and have it rebuilt.
and ship it to ya..
Re: WTB Built or rebuilt 2.5 Shortblock
Appreciate the offer 33, I've used about 5-6 machine shops over the years locally and I've never found one that was a good experience from start to finish. One had my block over a year even tho I visited every 2-3 weeks to urge completion, that guy was a MASTER(see what I did there;)) at making the customer believe they were making progress. Another shop did nice work but overcharged and lost some parts. Seems like all the quality mom and pop shops are gone partly because property values are too high in OC to allow surviving in a business area unless they're a car dealership, big box store or a Weed dispensary:( last couple I had done by the other AJ in PHX area but I think he's too busy these days and has to third party it out anyway.
See if you have access to a good core, I'm wanting forged pistons, stock rods are fine as long as their mag'd and prepped with ARP bolts. Get me a price and timetable (prefer less than 45 days, I'll be done with the 2 motors ahead of Woody by then :eyebrows:) and if nobody here has a fit the bill motor already assembled I'm interested.

Yeah man. the shop I use is called Tachyon racing heads. Full machine shop. Old timers. and Old time racers.
Does great work.
Also another place in town Precision Crankshaft Service
Built my last two 2.5 engines.
i know how hard it is to find decent shops these days with old timers that are willing to work with you.

Now that's kinda interesting. Tachyon Racing is I think who is supposed to have ported the V6 heads on Rick Lozier's car, which I now own. Better the odds are super long that they have any records or flow numbers of that though, that would have been back in the 90's...
