I have a buddy with a similar Z1 issue though his affected the fuel pump. he installed a relay triggered by Z1 near the power module connected from the battery directly to the fuel pump with upgraded positive wiring and an additional ground.
better power delivery to the far away fuel pump cant ever hurt.

Well, my New Yorker has been on the back burner. Went out today to move it into the shop and it didn't want to start. When I turned the ignition on, instead of hearing the fuel pump prime, I got a clicking sound underneath the left front of the engine compartment and the heater blower motor came on even though the heater was off. I'm getting pretty frustrated with this crap. Not sure if the ignition switch could cause this or not. I have a new switch, just haven't had the time to install it. I kept turning the key on and off and when it stopped clicking it would start. ???
That's interesting. It seems like it certainly could be the ign switch, but the way you were describing the problem earlier still sounds like there is a problem with the Z1 circuit under the hood too.
Z1 circuit under the hood too
