who do you like to do calibration's?
I have a stock 86 lebaron gts and looking to get a peformance logic modual. Who would you get from? FWD Performance, Turbos unleashed, Mopar Peformance? Also am i jumping the gun by going with a cal first or should i do other tweaks first? I only have a month left before i take it on a 5000mile road trip  so i cant get to crazy on indepth mods. Thanks!!!::rockon:
Re: who do you like to do calibration's?
If you havent already, go through and change out all the basic wear items....spark plugs, cap, rotor, wires, air filter, fuel filter, t-stat, coolant, oil.
You can install a manual boost controller and raise the boost a couple pounds. I believe stock is 7, and you can raise it up to 14 without hitting overboost with no other mods. Opening up the exhaust will help the turbo spool faster.
A t2 conversion should be in order before you go looking at a different calibration, check out http://thedodgegarage.com/turbo.html for info on that, and info on just about everything. After the t2 conversion, you will need a different calibration, look for one for a shelby Z (or upgraded one for a shelby z, which will require a 3bar map and larger injectors). A big intercooler should be installed around this time too.
Re: who do you like to do calibration's?
If I could vote twice, I would. I have one of FWD cals in my 87 shelby z and my RT. Both kick ---. Better gas milage, more power, way better out of boost power. All around just better to drive.
Re: who do you like to do calibration's?
^^ Couldn't agree more! Been running FWD cals in more cars than I can remember over the last 10 year. The current cal in the Charger is a perfect example of how well they work and IMO why the car remains so streetable!

Depends on what yer looking to do... if its stock and you're going to keep it mostly that way, look into getting an MP cal for yoru application from one of our vendors.
Also, +1 to Murphy's advice :thumb:
Re: who do you like to do calibration's?
Just remember that if your going the custom cal route that your going to need the supporting parts to go with that cal(ie.3 bar, injectors, and fuel system).
Re: who do you like to do calibration's?
I would go to a T2 setup before turning it up but it all depends on your goals?
What are they? How mechanically inclined are you? Do you have an AF gauge etc?
For LM cals, you can't beat the MP stage II cal,
You missed one option, doing your own, :eyebrows:

I have done plugs, cap, rotor, hep modual, air filter is clean but its a paper fram :ballchain: fuel filter is in the near future (weekend) thermostat has been done a few times had a lazy 195* went 180 with a 1/16th hole for less coolant shock/lazy burping... cooling was flushed and replaced 50/50, and just did a fresh 10W30 syn blend before i switch to full syn. did sea foam in intake as well as oil before oil change and did a bg 44k in the gas.
Need to get a boost gauge put in i snagged a stock out of a Daytona from the junk yard just haven't gotten to figure out where to put it thinking of sticking it in the drivers air vent above the turn signal stock... (smokers hate that damn vent!!!:ban: ) but I feel more comfortable with having the computer control engine then bypassing boost but still in my mind to do the mbcv. I was trying to avoid buying another gauge and install (AF gauge).
Was thinking of doing a poor mans exhaust by getting rid of cat and muffler (haven't noticed if there is a resonator under there never looked) and doing a side or rear exit with cherry bomb. Haven't decided yet I live in a emissions free area and plan on keeping it registered here to avoid CA emissions bull :censored:.
Do plan on T-2 conversion sometime but have to see how the navy treats me at my new command and don't want to be without a car during the conversion process.... and i don't have the time to do it now...

Right now short term goals is getting some better economy out of it and have the I'm pass you rice :bolt: when needed. With my road trip i will have the car full (plasma tv, xbox, desktop computer, sea bag, all my cloths, top box off my rolling tool box full of basic tools, and maybe my subs (no box too big) and amp and rest of supporting equipment, for the rest of my house hold belonging will be put in storage for unknown amount of time depending if navy will grant me housing allowance... (:censored::censored: ex-wife I had to get divorced from).
As for mechanical inclined i am not scared to do anything. I have my associates's in auto motive and diesel, when i am not working for the navy i am at my buddy's garage working on cars for $25-50/hour(weather sucks right now so its slow). Just running out of time and it being my only car i cant be without it for long periods of time. As i said above no AFR gauge.... yet.
And the DIY Cal is fine with me if i had the time to figure it... i was just thinking at these cals that has it socketed and figure out the DIY later and just pop in the chip later...
Thanks a Bunch guys you are awesome. Speaking of it i am putting together a DIY headliner install i just did on my lebaron with a 3 foot mopar pentagon in the middle. I wanted to put my experience in to share with the community that has been a great help!!:amen:
Re: who do you like to do calibration's?
Well then, just get an MP cal for your year for now, I might even have one, I'll check, do the exhaust and you MUST install some sort of AF gauge, I prefer the Dawes but some like the Autometer. There is nothing wrong with an MBC and they give you more boost under the curve, which is a good thing,

Re: who do you like to do calibration's?
get a wb before anything you will save your motor with one even when its stock
Re: who do you like to do calibration's?
Shelgame and Aries_turbo have always treated me great when it comes to custom calibrations!
Re: who do you like to do calibration's?
I thought MP cal was for the t2 engine? or did they make one for the logs also?
and you know you got to show us pics of that headliner
Re: who do you like to do calibration's?
FWD gets my vote!!!
I have one in each of my cars (Omni GLH-T / Lancer shelby) and they both work great. The mid-range power increase on my formerly sluggish Lancer is awesome!:eyebrows:

Wideband isn't needed for basic hotrodding or even built engines if you pay attention to the AF gauge.

Yep, they made a 86 MP cal too, ;)
Re: who do you like to do calibration's?
The TurbosUnleashed 2.5 liter, 3 bar calibration Paul did for my Shelby Charger was awesome! It was go to go the first time too. It didn't need to be sent back and be retweaked at all.
I am very excited that now I can have TU do the calibration for my new 2.2 liter, ball bearing turbo, TU cast iron header set up. Can't wait!!!
Re: who do you like to do calibration's?
I'd do an MP if it is still a log car, that would remove the 7 psi deal after so many sec. Think they run 11 or 12 psi. Drop in and go.
Re: who do you like to do calibration's?
mopar made lm for 85 turbo cars also with the old stlye pick ups had one

A wideband is nice with a 2 bar, but your not pushing it much at this point past stock. So it is a want not a need. You push into 3 bar and now you need one.
As far as cals. I have had MP 85,86, 86 stage 2 and 87 stage 2. I have had one cal from TU, 3 bar. From FWD I've installed 3 stage 2s, 2 trim cals, a stage 3 and 2 stage 5s.
The MP cals work great when they work and run the car more lean and mean, but there boost is low and then aren't pushed.
The TU cal I have makes great power floored, but idles like crap and the thing gets poor mileage.
The FWD cals I have used all worked perfect on closer to stock and 2 bar. Better mileage and driving. The 3 bars always have need adjustment but were always on cars with a lot of mods. Any car with big mods needs adjustment.
