I have a USB to ttl cable that when i hok it to my 87 GLHS it works great. but When i hook it to the SCI on my 88 CSX-T and it is like there is no connection the RX and TX lights don't even flash:confused2:
Are the connections different? Or I have heard of "bootstrapping" IDK if this is needed so they can communicate?
I understand the computer programs are different between the two but on the SMEC i get no output at all with this cable but i do with my OTC
ANY IDEAS?

You don't need to bootstrap the smec. You only do that when you want it to run a program other than what's on the prom. You're sure you have the correct pins on the smec? Should be green and pink wires going to the connector, I believe.
i will check again on the colors and would it be the same pins as the LM?
I believe it's the same pins in the sci connector, yes.

thats the same one i have except i have the 6pin connector on mine. i did buy it 2 or 3 years ago so maybe something changed? since u have yours working can u post a couple pics (or pm me) on which usb wires u have running into which sci connector wires. also, your mprog config settings. thx.Quote:
