Re: Hot Rod Drag Week 2012
Pretty cool.... (sorry to hijack a good time) but did you recognize the owner of the vehicle? Isn't he the prick that ripped people off here on new sets of pistons 4 years ago?
Re: Hot Rod Drag Week 2012
It is nice for sure, but isn't the daily driver class a 12.0 bracket? I guess just participating would be cool.

I think it's 10.80.
Re: Hot Rod Drag Week 2012
I'm a definite maybe!

And maybe it'll come back to the east side of things next year.

No locations have been announced for '12 yet, as far as I know. I'd bet it will be annouced after the '11 event, which is in September. This year, it is starts/finishes in Topeka, KS. Something east of the mighty miss would make it a lot more likely for me.

Re: Hot Rod Drag Week 2012
Hey Guys and anyone else looking to do this event, its TOUGH. One of the guys I race with out here from time to time did it last year. He has a very reliable car that runs in the nines and they spec built several things on the motor just for the event. I forget how he finished but said he wouldn't do it again. Even though he had a buddy do the hole event with him. All the stories about roadside tranny repairs, over heating issues, rearend issues....its all true. I personally would give a pat on the back to anyone for doing it successfully, but you better have a wallet that can take the hit of this event. I think all said and done he spent close to 10k to do it, between food, fuel, hotels, tolls, car prep.
So racer beware this event is NOT for the faint of heart. Some of us have very fast cars that can compete timewise, but are you willing to get in it and drive 300miles that evening afteward to the next track.....with all your gear in with you? Even I'm not sure I would want to do that.
Re: Hot Rod Drag Week 2012
Yes, I have heard it is tough too... I think what would be cool is if we could get a few of us out for the Shelby Dodge / Turbo Mopar invasion in a group for shock value... like Reeves, Pachner, me and anyone else crazy/stupid enough to do it all going to the same event.. they would be like WTF!? LOL
Re: Hot Rod Drag Week 2012
Ok I WILL finish the Dakota in time for this in 2012. I plan on running either street race or daily driver depending on what it will e.t. I think we need a T-M invasion of drag week 2012.
Re: Hot Rod Drag Week 2012
Im going this year. The guy that won daily drive last year ran 12.3-12.5 all week long. I dont see why any of us that are running 10-12s couldnt do it? Im taking axles, slicks, fluids, coil, hep, and tools. Nothing else 300 miles a day is nothing, especially if you caravan with all the "race" cars that are going 50 mph.
Re: Hot Rod Drag Week 2012
Where is it this year?
Cindy at FWDPerformance is supposed to be sending me some 250 lb front springs for the front that will hopefully help with traction and also make the ride better. Also got a muffler now that I need to install. Thanks to Carroll and Brian for the heads up on Vibrant aluminum mufflers.
Oh, and got to fix the wipers......and now the trans.
Re: Hot Rod Drag Week 2012
This year it starts in Topeka at Heartland Park.

Reeves, are you going? This year's check-in is Sunday Sept. 11 in Topeka, KS. Hope to see you there!

and what happens, you win fastest 4cyl! great job man
consistent low 12s and 1 or 2 high 11 second passes!
maybe if some more guys come out next year we can have some competition for the 4cyl class. would lose to see some DSMs along with more turbododges
