Oil pick up mods

Did some searching and saw it mentioned that trimming away the metal on the pickup is best left to pans with a baffle installed. Anyone ever have any problems running a modded pick up on a stock 2.2 non CB set up? Intended use is light track day use like Track Night in America Thanks
