91 Spirit R/T Cover under hood (by windshield)
Alright, whats the simple trick i'm missing? The screws on the top of the plastic cover that go over the washer fluid bottle and wiper motor just spin but don't come out... all of them. Phillips head... i know it's something dumb... please help me out, i need to get the wiper motor out, and i started trying with the cover intact, but its making it a lot more difficult...
I cant imagine every single screw (5 or 6) are spinning in place... it has to be something i'm doing wrong...
Re: 91 Spirit R/T Cover under hood (by windshield)
The are plastic screws, so they will usually just spin. Try to wedge a screwdriver under the head. They should unscrew once you put some preload on them.
Re: 91 Spirit R/T Cover under hood (by windshield)
They should pry out with a pick, they are just little push pin that push the bottom of the washer part out like a rivet to hold it in.
Re: 91 Spirit R/T Cover under hood (by windshield)
Well i appreciate the ideas guys... the screwdriver behind the head didn't work... but at this point i'm willing to try just ripping them (the phillips head tops is kind of a mean distraction). Will let you know how it goes =)
Re: 91 Spirit R/T Cover under hood (by windshield)
You can wiggle some side cutters (dykes) behind them and just cut them off.

Push pins! give me a break lol. Thank you guys... now to figure out if i need a whole new motor, or if just regrounding it will help as i've seen mentioned elsewhere..
Re: 91 Spirit R/T Cover under hood (by windshield)
I've had bad luck with wiper motors in my R/T. 2 replacements in the 4 or so years I've owned the car. One thing I did find is those screw top push pin thingies are basically useless after being untightened/tightened a few times, and I was never able to find suitable replacements. I tried some button head Allen screws I had laying around, and with the accompanying washers they threaded up and look nice. Sorry I don't have a size to offer, it was one of those "gee whiz" moments.
