I just picked up a good running PT turbo for cheap. I'm taking the engine/trans out of it, but is there anything else on these cars worth keeping for anything? I'm debating on keeping the car for a future weird project or just scrapping it out....

Is it a GT?
Could be, depends on the model and options.
Mike
Its not a GT, just a 2004 turbo/auto
If you do part, i would be interested in all the window and door lock switches if the backlights work
Those front brakes will save an SRT-4 owner 16lbs of unsprung mass with the same stopping power, according to Ed Peters. Might be worth saving the rotors/calipers/brackets. Maybe even the knuckles.
If it runs good, why part it??

Fast forward to about 8:40 or so. That's when he starts talking about the swap.
Thanks!
Mike
Seems like these PT Turbos are starting to pop up for cheap. 2 near me on Craigslist right now. 03 with a blown headgasket $800, 05 wrecked $500. Would make a good donor for a swap.
Grrr... in 2007 when I did my 2.4 swap, if you found a good engine for less than $1500 it was an absolute steal. Now it's less than half that to drive the engine home with the car attached! I wish the same thing would happen with the Mazda DISI turbo engines so I could swap my wife's car!
Hey guys, I'm new to the group and have a question...does anyone know what parts the GLH for example, used on their AWD system? I was thinking it would be a blast to have AWD on my PT GT...I heard of some people transplanting these kinds of set ups and started giving me crazy ideas...lol
As luck would have it, the novel I composed for you got deleted before I could post it, so now it's the crib notes version...
1st, here's the most of the relevant links to the info you'll want/need:

Like so many things in life, there's going to be "more than one way to skin a cat", Carlos (the 1st person to complete a conversion, to my knowledge) liked that I was going a little different route with mine (alas still in progress...). One thing is for sure, you'll need a decent amount of fabrication skill, and/or $$ to make up for a lack in skill as this was never done by the factory AFAIK.
I think the PT conversion would be one of the easier conversions as you can use the Auto most came with without having to figure out how to run it without the electronics (as in an Omni that never had a 4-speed auto), you'd just need the AWD van axles and Diff, and probably some firewall "massaging" to clear the PTU (Power Transfer Unit). I'm not sure if the rack relocation presents any special issues in a PT, but I don't think it would going from memory
To my mind the most difficult part (or do I mean expensive?...), would be relocating the fuel tank to make room for the rear diff/drive shaft. A saddle style tank would probably be needed, otherwise it would likely have to be inside, not a good thing in an accident, though it is possible to do so safely, but a custom fuel cell would be needed. $$$
