I noticed an issue with my csx, where once 5th gear is selected, and return it to the horizontal neutral gate, it normally would return to the space between 3rd and 4th gear. Mine does not. It's working fine when you select r-1 or 2 and it'll return to the 3-4 position. Is this an issue in the transaxle, or shifter?

Probably the shifter cables.

It's probably a combination of things. Check the shifter and make sure the crossover linkage is working correctly. Check the cable and make sure it is free. Make sure you haven't lost any clips. Last thing would be to pop the shift fork selector mechanism off the transmission and look at the springs that return the selector shaft to the center.

So the return springs are in the transmission? I was hoping they were in the shifter. All linkages and shift quality is fine, just once you pull the shifter out of 5th gear, the shifter doesn't return to the center 3-4 neutral gate.
There is a spring mechanism in the selector lever housing on top of the trans. That's why there's the force required to push the selector lever into/out of the trans.Quote:

and the one for the trans should be on the selector mech
