Water Pump/Pulley Question
I've been trying to sort out the differences between water pumps and pulleys through the model years. I have an '85 600 ragtop with a 2.2 T1 and a 2.5 T1 on an engine stand that will eventually go in the car. From what I understand, the water pump and pulley of the '89 CB was an oddball and only used that one year. '90 had a bigger pulley bolt pattern. What I was wondering was if the pulleys from '90 and up cars had the same diameter and offset. In other words, if I put a '90 water pump/pulley on an '89 CB, will it play nice with the rest of the '89 belts and pulleys or do other things have to be changed?

Nothing else need to be change. How is your alternator adjust bracket? The tear drop bushing underneath the alternator? If in poor shape, get solid replacement from Rich. http://rbryant.freeshell.org/misc_products.htm
Re: Water Pump/Pulley Question
I am using a 1989 common block water pump on my 1988 T2 long block in my 1986 Lebaron convertible. I did that primarily to get more wrap on the alternator pulley. The reverse rotation pump allows for a lot more wrap on the alternator.
Re: Water Pump/Pulley Question
I had used any combination possible at this point I think. So long as you match the water pump to the belt style it was meant to be with, you should be good.

Good information everyone!

Do '89's and '90 up use the same belt?

It's the same style and I've always used the same belt.
