I presume I would remove the knob and try to get some type of lube down the inside of the shift lever, right?

The 4443404 should work. The only difference is that the 4443404 part has 2 holes at the bottom for the pin to fit through. You would use that last hole for P, AA and H bodies and the second to last for the J and G bodies. I compared my 4636074 part to the 4443404 part that I have and that is the only difference I see.
