He knows :-) from previous runs, the peftbl calculator gave him some goofy estimates to shoot for that weren't quite right. I took a look at the peftbl and set it by eye and gut feel of the setup and it worked well and safe.
When I get my car on the road in the next few weeks I'll do some logs and some testing to offer up some feedback.

At the higher rpm's, everything still looks good.
I think it is plenty safe to let the boost be what it is. (To a point obviously! )
Well, you only know it looks good at the rpm you've actually been to, which on that one log wasnt over 5400 iirc?
Personally, i wouldnt touch your boost controller. I would just let it rev higher and see how high the boost goes with everything set as it is currently. You may find that you won't be able to safely rev as high as the engine will make power because of the wastegate issue, and that's BEFORE turning the boost controller up.
I dont know if this is encouraging to hear or not but if you have to take the exhaust manifold off to drill for EWG, a minivan with a tu header and bolts that are known not to be rusted solid is pretty much the easiest possible application to do it in-car. I used to sort of fear taking the turbo off while leaving the head on, but with the tools and experience i have now it's not a big deal and not really even any slower than taking the head off. You (or whoever) should be able to get that manifold back off for wastegate mods without any real trouble.

wow very nice...this is just the tip of the iceberg
just out of curiousity, I wonder what the boost would be if you let the flapper loose? Would it really go up to 26+ psi?

I tried to do some tuning with the actuator pumped up and the wastgate wide open. Was trying to tune the PEFTBL.
Although it took longer to build boost, once it built some, pressure just would keep rising. The creep just happened later, but would still go past my boost setting (and my overboost limit of 18psi at the time).

Re: Intro and Update: Slugmobile and Mean Mini! (long read, but worth it)
So, the 12's didn't happen tonight. Just took it "easy" and didn't mess with boost settings any. I was using a g-valve, but had it set to open around 14psi. That probably helped the launches.
The second run of the night was the best, and i thought it was going to b a 12.9 but not so. Need to go back in my records to see if this beats Gus' old record.
Last run was weird and need to look at the log. I think i shifted to 2nd too early.
And on all of these, i still lost momentum shifting to 3rd, although i thought i was holding it later.
New tach is ordered and can't wait.
Here are the slips. Mark (tazaroo) was there spectating and might have got a video of the 13.04 @ 102.62

Re: Intro and Update: Slugmobile and Mean Mini! (long read, but worth it)
Nice!! I'd say it's just 1-2 more psi away from 12s, but really if you had a setup that didn't creep you could actually raise boost at lower rpms without raising your peak boost and probably get it at the same peak boost you were already using.
-
Re: Intro and Update: Slugmobile and Mean Mini! (long read, but worth it)
My thoughts exactly. I think i wouldn't even need to raise the boost. Still lots to improve with the launch, but these 1.9's were alot nicer than the 2.3's at SDAC.
I need to go through the logs more today.
I'll link the files so folks can look too.
And thanks Dan! Mini is feeling good. That track wasn't a bad ride. Next time you visit we'll have to go. Can't believe i have been here 16 years and never went to that track. Of course i got tired of breaking my spirit...

Gary, do you have a copy of the slip, or record of the rest of the slip info?
I thought i had copies of Gus's binder, but the copies i have are from Slugmobile. I can't find or remember if i got copies for Mini.
I know that 13.1 was on like 27psi.
And i saw on Slug's slips i should probably be at 15.5psi in the slicks.

Re: Intro and Update: Slugmobile and Mean Mini! (long read, but worth it)
Wow! Low 13's @ low 100mph's with ~2 second 60' times...that's getting it done! I would either try to make sure the engine will live with the boost creep and let it eat or you could go the EWG. That will give you pretty much absolute control over your boost and that in itself might be worth it for the peace of mind. Either way, GREAT JOB! :thumb: Gus would be proud!

Re: Intro and Update: Slugmobile and Mean Mini! (long read, but worth it)
Well, the creep is only a bad thing when you can't support the boost it ends up making. It is a stumbling point for trying to tune.
The van likes to eat that boost, for sure. It is pulling all the way up to the 2-3 shift, and then it falls flat for a bit.
I think the PTC converter might be closer to 4000 stall with WOT. Looks from the log the 2-3 shift drops to right around 4000rpm, but them needs to build back up. If I had shifted later than I did, it would have been in the 12's last night.
Here is access to the logs for the night, (the condensed runs are trimmed .csv to just show from staging and through to lifting throttle), as well as my calibration files, and some logging setup in case anyone wants to use MPScan to see the runs. The calibration is based off Brian Bucar's tweak of my previous cal, but I made changes to staging, antilag, overboost, rev limit, and added a bit of part throttle fuel above 17psi.

Lot of info here too Wayne-

I still have the mirror up of Gus's original site.

Thanks for keeping Gus' mirror site alive. I've referenced it often. That #2 cylinder in Mini that he was getting 14 deg of timing pulled, that was the dead cylinder with 85% leakdown.
