What to look for on SRT-4 test drive?

Possibly checking out my first SRT-4 this weekend in my quest to find a decent one. This car appears mostly stock with around 125k, its currently throwing codes for the EVAP system and the speedo doesn't work so the code for that also.
What's the best way to check the transmission? I know that 3rd gear is the first to go so I was thinking higher rpm downshifts and upshifts. Also what else should I look into?

dealer history, carfax (stolen recovery or wrecked) , rust along rockers and wheel arches, splices in o2 circuit (or any pcm data harness) and rounded off trans bolts, engine mounting hardware are the areas I'd look into.
