Are later GJKHPA Rear Suspension Mounts a direct bolt on to early cars?
I have searched the forum and can't find an answer to this. Are the later (90 and up) oval-bushing rear suspension brackets a direct bolt-on to an earlier round-bushing car?
I have an 85 New Yorker with the hollow rear bar axle and found a complete rear suspension off a Spirit R/T, including the brackets and I am wondering if it will bolt right on. I know that mixing and matching the axles and bushings/brackets is no bueno, but are the mounting holes and bracket locations the same between the earlier and later rear suspensions, and will the wheels be in the same location if the entire thing does bolt on?
Thanks in advance for the help!

I used a 1995 rear suspension on my 1986 Lebaron convertible, the items I found were: Bolt pattern changed to a longer area somewhere between 1989 and 1995, parking brake cable angle is different between 1986 K (and E may be the same) and the 1989 J body. I was able to use my 1986 brackets on the 1995 axle by using PolyBushings.com replacement bushings and drilling my 1986 brackets for the larger bolts. Here are the pictures of the brackets:

I also did a spreadsheet with the bushings, axles and hangers.

Awesome! Thanks for the information and pictures! As I get closer, I might hit you up for the spreadsheet if you don't mind.

What you want to find is an 86-88 Daytona CS/ShelbyZ Solid rear axle. Why? They used a very hard solid rear bushing. I made the mistake of burning a set out to install a set of PB's "Race" rear bushings. Big mistake. The rear end felt like a wet noodle in comparison. I've only seen them on the above models. Even the CSX didn't get them from what I've seen.

No problem, I did a pretty long list from the parts lists. I first was going to use the entire rear suspension from the 1989 J turbo coupe, but found like the 1986 one, the anti roll tube was broken, hence the 1995 J convertible rear suspension. I originally used the 1989 brackets until looking at the parking brake cables I found they were at an angle at the rear and would eventually wear into the cable housing ends. I took my 1986 brackets and drilled them out for the larger bolts in the later suspension.
The original idea was to just use the 1989 rear complete as the car was a 4 wheel disc with internal drum parking brakes (which I prefer having been a Mercedes-Benz tech) It now has the 1995 rear suspension with the 1989 rear brakes (the 1995 had drums which I removed and left in the car at Pick-n-Pull Virginia Beach).
