First I’m sorry for posting I wanted to try to private rob m as I know you bought boost buttons Cals but I couldn’t get pictures to load. I ordered the socket and flash module thinking it was more straight forward. I’m not sure how the socket should be solder in as it doesn’t look like it can go both ways. Also chip can go either way. Should have bought it already soldered in but thought why not I’m pretty decent with de soldering and soldering exact parts. Any help would be great can also do it privately so it’s not interfering with anybody’s business. Thanks

Re: Soldering socket and installing flashable module
For the SMEC this is a different model but shows the orientation of the board http://www.merkurboys.com/wiki/index...C:FlashInstall
Re: Soldering socket and installing flashable module
On the socket, the half moon cutout on the end, is next to pin #1. #1 pin on the BB board is labelled, right next to the "A15". So match those two up. That's how the board goes in the socket.
There is supposed to be a number 1 on the SMEC board next to pad #1, but I cannot see it in your picture. I forget which corner it's in, I haven't been in my socketed SMEC in about 6 months...
Re: Soldering socket and installing flashable module
Found the 1 on the board. Soldered the socket on. Will be finishing up soldering a15 rw and prog up tonight and bridge the zener diode. Wanted to say thanks for the info and hopefully next week I’ll be flashing the chip
Re: Soldering socket and installing flashable module
Are flash modules available again? :hail:
Re: Soldering socket and installing flashable module

I thought you purchased it recently, was hoping he started selling them.
Re: Soldering socket and installing flashable module
I hope so too. I want to do it with my charger too
Re: Soldering socket and installing flashable module
Whoa! You don't need both of those for the SMEC. The 3-chip module is the SMEC flash module.
The 2nd board is a latch board. You only need that for the SBEC. And, in fact, I'm pretty sure installing it in the SMEC will render it inop.
I never made a new install process. I always referenced this one: http://www.merkurboys.com/wiki/index...C:FlashInstall
My module layout was a little different, but the pin names and wire connections are the same as above. The 'E' pin is N/C on my module.
Re: Soldering socket and installing flashable module
Damn it all has to come apart lol well it happens I should have paid you the extra money to do it. What is the e pin as I’m not seeing it

Re: Soldering socket and installing flashable module
I’m sorry for no t being clear what do I hook the e pin too. I see zener diode program and a15 and r/w but nothing for e

Nothing. It's not actually connected to anything on the board (on the SMEC board, anyway)...
The E pin is used on the SBEC board, and I drew that pinout and used it on both board layouts just to be easy...
Re: Soldering socket and installing flashable module
Oh okay thank you for the help. It’s greatly appreciated
