TM Knowledge Center Update 2024
Finally looking to make some updates to TM and one of the first items on the list is the Knowledge Center!
The current KC "wiki" version uses a wiki app that is no longer supported, plus some of the older KC was never even migrated to it (I hope it's still in the database)
So, with the current KC needing to be updated and a new/different format, would like to present a couple options and ask the group what are other examples that work. Oh, and if anyone wants to help, that could work too LoL!
Let's look at options...
FAQ Sub-Forum - We can make a sub-forum FAQ with sub-sections for each area, engine, trans, suspension, etc. Think of how the BM FAQ used to be. We already have this format started behind the scenes with help from DodgeZ and Cordes helping to migrate the majority of the BM to TM. We could migrate the current KC to this and also the old KC if we can find it. Might make sense to only have a few that could write to this section to make it more read-only?
FAQ HTML - For a long time I've admired the neons.org forum FAQ explaining everything neon. This would take a lot of work possibly by someone who knows HTML way better than me, however, could become a great "all in one" resource. Gary's DDG and MimiMopar are a similar format and it works well, however requires a bit more work to setup/manage/update, Here are the neons.org forum FAQ's for reference: 1G https://faq.neons.org/faq/index.html and 2G https://faq.neons.org/2kfaq/index.html
Both of these are older methods which work. Are there any better ways in 2022? Please let us know your thoughts and post links to any examples on other forums you know of!

Thanks JT for the update!

Yeah, it's been too long.. Now what's our best new KC look like? I know y'all have opinions!?
Re: TM Knowledge Center Update 2022
something simple that needs no fancy formatting.
Something that can be transferred anywhere.

Cannot argue with that
Re: TM Knowledge Center Update 2022
Agree on keep it simple. The FAQ forum is probably the most simple. Would like to have an index of sorts but that could be generated after its built... hmmmm
Re: TM Knowledge Center Update 2022
How about you reference TM on the SDAC FB?
Re: TM Knowledge Center Update 2022
The basics such as the info on Gary Donavan’s page, SLH brake upgrades, Russ Kinzie’s pages etc should be linked or copied.

Links here are posted there from time to time but it continually scrolls down the FB newsfeed toilet. I guess we could pin a post, not sure how many they let us pin... Any other ideas how to link TM there?

Yeah maybe some collaboration, definitely want to preserve the basic tech info!

What about integrating a QR code somewhere in the banner? Or, even making a new vinyl TM.com logoed sticker that has a QR code with it?

Re: TM Knowledge Center Update 2022
For reference, I’ve been putting QR code’s smaller than 2 pica on things and they work great. I’ve gone down to about 1.5 pica before, but that takes a little more work.

I’m using free internet tools and not modifying them too much. They are generated as pngs, and kids can scan them on the computer screen with their phones while they are very small. The key is running the url though a url shortener.
