Test & Tune 1/8th mile, Thurs 3/22/18 Galot Motorsports Park, Benson NC
Looks like my only chance to race will be this Thursday at the local 1/8th mile track. Anyone who watches Street Outlaws will eventually see this track, since they were all here last week filming with the Discovery Channel. Beautiful track. Can't wait for them to start racing 1/4 mile. But for now it is only 1/8th.
Going to try and make it out for some testing. Want to try out some launch changes and see if i can test some cam timing changes (actually retarding this time) to see if that helps. Might not try for any 1/8 mile PB, but who knows. My best currently is 7.47 (with .91's), and 7.57 (with 1.05's).
Temps should be mid 50's so could be some great racing.
Next chance to race 1/4 won't be until the end of April or early May. If I could just get time to go, i might be able to make some progress!
Last time there, got matched up against that Super Coupe that got the nice triple view video.

I do need some new slicks, these are just about toast after 5 years!
The crappy thing is I'll have to switch back to the .91 gears for DragWeek if I get to go. Then not sure if the 24.5's would like it.
Might have to try anyway...

Been up since a bit before 1am, and just can't get back to sleep. Thank you 12hr nightshift schedule...
Won't even be able to work on the van and check on a few things until this afternoon, then need to pack up. Gates open at 4pm and i want to be there early so i have time to do my tire swap and try to get my head in the game before they start running.

Good luck today Bud!!!
After looking at your time slips, you are picking up 20mph after the 1/8th, you should be just fine running the 24.5.
What's your rpm when you are crossing the finish line?

I think it was around 5500. I cleared out some old logs from my phone, so I can't doublecheck.
I'll still be using the 23's today, and Sunday. Haven't ordered new slicks yet.
And thanks. Hopefully I can get some decent runs.

If you're Crossing at 5500 with the 23s it'll probably drop you down quite a bit with the 24.5

I'll have to get a pic for Marra. All was not a total loss, my car number was 707. Too bad i don't even have one slip with it!
Had a phone consult with Brian. It looks like if may have snapped an axle. First one in Mini, ever I believe.
Its the driver's side, and it is poked out a bit, thus the drippy shaft syndrome. Leaking out the shaft seal.
I'll try to tear into it very soon while I'm off a few days, if the westher cooperates.

sorry to hear about the bad luck. It does look like a broken axle. Hope you get it repaired quickly.

Re: Test & Tune 1/8th mile, Thurs 3/22/18 Galot Motorsports Park, Benson NC
I have broken 2 axles in the Lebaron, and both times was the driver side. Easy fix though, pull axle, strong pocket magnet to pull the broken piece, stick new axle in and go.
Only hiccup will be if the axle still fit tight enough on the diff splines that a magnet won't pull it. Might have to pull the other and see if something will fit through to drive it out in that case. Or I suppose as a last resort you could drill a hole in the piece and tap it, then use a slide hammer.

About to go out and start on it.
I just hope only the axle is bad. And like you say, that i can get the piece out. I have a Peloquin, but can't remember how smooth the spline engagement was. I know the Quaife on my Spirit was a pain in the nuts with how resistive the splines were.
I've got to pick up some new seals too, and i don't have any spare trans fluid left. So it's going pretty typical already!

Peloquin usually slide right in and out I have never had a problem with them.
