This article explains how to properly assemble the perch onto the shock to prevent the car from having that "jacked up" look.

A common replacement Shock for the rear of the L-body cars (ie. Shelby Charger and Omni GLH) is the KYB GR2 part# 341035.

With few performance shock alternatives this application has been seen to be comparable to the stock parts and is a popular replacement for worn out stock shocks. However there are often complaints that the shocks cause the car to look jacked up in the rear after installing them. This is usually caused by the spring perch being installed upside down onto the shock. KYB doesn't provide clear instructions with the shocks, so it's an easy mistake to make. The photos below illustrate proper installation of the perch.
